Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of vinegar, brettanomyces, and fruits. The flavor is acidic with notes of berries, malt, and brettanomyces, leading to a tart finish.

GABF 09. Where are all the other rates from GABF? I kept telling people to try this beer, since it was a top 10 for me. Pours a woody nutty amber with a thinning head. Aroma is fairly overloaded with wine soaked oak- but in a good way, tons of alcohol soaked sour fruits, cherry, and cherry pit, almost a slight strawberry and raspberry, slight apple and pear, toffee, bourbon, oak, wine, and good clean sour- slight acetic, lots of funk- brett, and lacto. Flavor is bourbon, vinous oak and wine grapes, tannic , cherry pit, juicy, sour funk, acetic, lactic, and malty sweetness- blended and well rounded- doesn’t seem too rushed, very tannic and modest astringency to go along with the sour fruity finish. I really dug this one.

Tap at California State Fair. "Brian" says 7.5% ABV. It’s a blend of things like merlot and tripel and who knows what. Pours reddish amber with a fine off-white head. Smells like Flanders. Served at ambient temperature - ~85 degrees? Medium body with mild carbonation. Medium sour. Somewhat vinous. Suggests red wine. Seems quite oaky.

Tap at Rose & Crown in Palo Alto. Cloudy reddish-brown color with an off-white head. Aroma is tart strawberry and cherry, wood, and a little funk. Flavor fruity with strawberry, cherry, other red berries, vinous notes, and wood. Nice medium-bodied sharp biting palate with lingering berry tartness. Surprisingly good sour from Drake’s.
