Fantomas23 (462), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Feb 23, 2007 Small sips came recommended, but who’s going to gulp this stuff down? Can you gulp something this ginormous and beautifully complex? The aroma is striking, enigmatic. Deep, woodsy pine, fruit, toffee, and even a trace of tallow?? (or maybe I’m just insane). Taste is all those things and more. Hints of floral essence, like daisies or, better yet, dandelions. Sting of hops on the back of my throat. Long drying finish making my gums shrivel. Big giant huge thanks, Boboski!
Bhops (230), Dallas, Texas, USA Jul 14, 2008 on tap at City Beer. Tried both batches. I preferred batch 2 as well. Golden hazy pour with medium head. Aroma of citrus and caramel. Good flavor with nice dryness. AgentSteve (919), SF Bay Area, California, USA Jul 12, 2008 I know this is a bit old, but on tap @ City Beer, the hop nose and profile were anything but subdued. Batch #2 was better than #1, so that is what I am rating.- Pours a medium dark ruddy brown with decent cream colored head. The nose is very pine, floral and pineapple hop. The flavor is a nice blend with the caramel malt added to the hop complexity, and the finish was dry yet sweet. A bit thin in the mouthfeel, but a very good beer overall. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Name: Jolly Rodger
clear orange, wispy beige head, drippy lace, huge sweet pine and citrus aroma with lots of caramel, lots of sweet pine sap flavor, long bitter finish, the bitterness starts to take over after a while
Storm (2685), Amager, Denmark Jun 11, 2007 Bottle. Cloudy amber colour with a little head. Nice aroma of citrus, sweet malt, and notes of caramel. Malty flavour with a lot of hops, very hoppy but not so bitter than you may expect. Ends up little bitter with a varming feeling from the alcohol. Papsoe (11062), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 4, 2007 (Bottle 35,5 cl) Courtesy of aspidites. Hazy, orangey golden with an off-white head. Fat, concentrated aroma of caramel and peaches. Very full-bodied, plenty of caramel malt but otherwise completely dominated by a massive dose of aroma hops leaving peach- and citrus notes and a distinct bitterness. A huge beer with quite some personality. 310507
