4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
bomber from The Davis Beer Shoppe. Pours dark ruddy copper with a creamy off-white head that tried to lace. Aroma of darker bread with a hint of treacle. Med body. Flavor isnít sticky sweet, but itís dark brown sugar, a little heat, and some damn strong hop. This doesnít finish like a relaxing sipper. This ale is strongly bitter - yet allows the odd sweet note (treacle for one) to pop out once in awhile. Good stuff.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
22oz bomber pours with a clear deep ruby red body supporting a nice looking half inch tall tan head of foam that leaves behind some decent lacing. The aroma offers up a great mix of cherry and prune and pine hop infused molasses as well as a yum inducing dank hoppiness and then a bit of booze at the end of the draw. The taste begins with a nice resiny bitter hoppiness that is woven together with dank, spicy, pine and a bit of citrus hoppy goodness. This is nice and resiny and still full of hop flavor. Behind the hops are modest notes of sweet malts, prunes and a hint of molasses covered dates. Dandy barleywine!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Appearance: Pours a semi-clear dark amber with a big fluffy head that subsides to a retaining thin cap of tan.
Aroma: Quite similar to the Imperial Red from 2010! Resinous piney hops, brown sugar and burnt sugar like malt sweetness. Very aromatic even from a far.
Taste: Big bitter and citrusy hops, burnt toasty and caramel malts. A little dark chocolate, finishes with long sturdy dry bitterness that lingers well past the sip. Not boozy, but the over-the-top hop profile would lead you to believe this beer is young/hot.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, lively carbonation.
Overall: Delicious, big and hoppy. A very similar beer to not only Jolly Rodger 2010, but also to fresh Sierra Nevada Bigfoot. I would drink this guy fresh however.
