On tap. Pours a medium amber color with a tan head and lacing. It has a mild aroma of earthy and piney hops. The flavor is a balance of the earthy hops and amber malts up front with a mild, bitter aftertaste.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Drake’s Barrel House pouring up deep clear copper with amber hues and thin gold edges supporting an off white head of foam that leaves behind nice sheet lacing. The aroma is sweet, a little nutty and also sprinkled with somehow candy sweet hops (hmm? I don’t know how to describe this). The taste is yummy hop forward as I get near chewy pine hops, some spicy hops and then increasing hoppy resiny bitterness to midway helping to create an almost wood sap like spiciness. Off in the background thinly ringing the hops are echoes of malts and malt roastiness. Solid brew were the 50 IBU indication for this beer on the chalk board over the taps seems far too low. It seems more in the 75 IBU range.

On Tap at Livermore Saloon, pours a bit of a foggy rusty copper with a full, frothy cream colored head. Nice malt nose with slight hop influence. Same in the flavor with a dry slight bitter finish. Full caramel malt without getting too sweet. Nice balance.

On cask at the PP Carlsbad Real Ale fest. It pours orange amber with an off white head. The aroma is malty and hoppy with plums, fig, orange, and grapefruit. The flavor is herbal hops with some caramel, bread, and a potent earthy bitter finish. Some floral and tropical touches as well.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cellared 12 oz. bottle, poured to my favorite 1/2 pint sampling glass with a hazed, brownish amber color, decent, tan head foam that lingered long enough, then reduced to film, a creamy ring, and etched-like lacing. The aroma was mid-fruit, some citrus, light, brown sugar sweetness, and a touch of caramel. The flavor presented a sharp bitterness that dominated rather than balanced with the light malt, and remained constant into the finish.
