hopdog (4525), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 18, 2008 On tap at the Freakin Frog - they freaked me out when I ordered this and they said I kicked the tap and they ’might’ not have another keg. Poured a deeper amberish color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of tropical fruits, pine, citrus, skunky weed, and caramel. Tastes of tropical fruits, ’husky’, caramel, citrus, and caramel, and pine. Alcohol content well hidden. goldtwins (3721), Nesconset, New York, USA Aug 18, 2008 RBSG ’08: Poured a hazedamber color with an off-white head. Hop forward aroma with citrus notes on a caramel base. Malt start to the flavor with citrus hops running down the center. Medium bodied and warming. egajdzis (2947), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA May 25, 2008 [Draft @ Freakin Frog] Poured a deep amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, caramel malts, citrus, resin, and light alcohol. Taste of sticky pine, resiny tobacco, caramel malts, citrus fruits, and light alcohol in the finish. bb (2069), Martinez, California, USA Sep 14, 2007 Draft. Nice rich amber/copper color with a light tan head. Big fruity (tropical, summer, citrus) aroma. Big fruity flavor with a little pine, earth, and backing malt. Lingering summer and stone fruit with some sweet caramel and earth. Very drinkable. Alcohol barely noticeable and only if you go looking for it. Very fruity. Good beer, but I’d love to see a bit more resiny pine in it -a lot of hop flavor that doesn’t always translate to a lot of bitterness. I love Rodger’s beers and hope he gets started with his next project soon, but I wouldn’t call this his best. Sorry to break up the love fest that seems to have broken out over this beer. sliffy (1951), Columbus, Ohio, USA Mar 17, 2008 Shared at Cleveland tasting 3/15 Thanks Dawn, Bottle: Pours a clear copper color with a white head. Aroma, citrus, caramel and pale malts, juicy. Flavor, caramel, brown sugar and pale malts, big citrus hops, floral and pine, just enough of a malt backbone to keep it in check. Good stuff.
