This English Summer Ale is light, crisp, and refreshing. We included small additions of "Grains of Paradise" (African peppercorn, this is an ancient traditional brewing ingredient) which provides a hint of pepper-like spiciness that is quite refreshing.

Draft at the source. Hazy pale yellow color, fluffy white head. Nice fruity aroma with a bit of toasted biscuit. Taste has grapefruit, light pineapple, bread. Very nice.

On tap at brewery, was told this was one time, with potential to become seasonal, or permanent. I hope this one stays. They called it an "English Summer Ale", dunno WTF that means, but it was a nice beer. Light yellow with some off-white surface foam. Brilliant clarity. Pleasant citrus nose up front with lemons and grapefruit - really decent nose. Flavor seemed watered down a hint with a bit of bitterness, yet carrying the character of the nose. Medium bodied with moderate carb. Nice beer with a good tone for a 90 degree day in Zoo Town. Serving type: on-tap 05-18-2012

Growler, via the Alberta Pipeline, thanks to Savvy1982. Bright orange colour, small off-white head. Aroma is very appealing, zesty lemon peel, tropical fruit, tropical flowers; very aromatic. Palate is light, but the burst of hoppy flavours and gentle toast keep it satisfying and interesting (as opposed to thin or watery). Mild bitterness. Nothing here is overwhelming, and this beer certainly feels light, but elegant and bright and satisfying. A great English session ale that reminded me of Fyne Ale’s Hurricane Jack or Thornbridge Kipling. Thanks Savvy!

Draft at Draught Works. Pours clear gold, with a 1-finger white head, great lacing. This is one of my new favorite brews while in Missoula! Nose is citrus, passionfruit, mango, pulpy grapefruit, and french bread. Flavours of brioche, lemon, grapefruit, peach, and apricot. This was listed as being 5.2% on the blackboard that day, not sure whether that was a typo, but 4.5% seems more likely as they DO list this as a "Session" beer.

Nose of citrus, orange, lemon, grapefruit, a little herbal notes and a little earth. Malt base is lightly english, a little biscuit and a little toast. Slight sweetness, a little fruity. Pours orange golden, thin white head. Flavors of citrusy hops, somewhat hybrid english/american, toasted malts, a little biscuit, very light sweetness, nice fruity hop finish, with a slight dry earthy and herbal notes. Extremely drinkable. Very good.
