Nice dark brown-red color, great smoke colored head with medium bubbles, redolent aroma, lot of sweetness and a bit alcohol in the taste, affable aftertaste. One of the greatest Hungarian beer in my opinion.

bottled, 0.5l, 7.3%. Bottle 50 cl) very dark, almost black color, somewhat reddish when held towards light. Nice beige head. Very obviously roasted aroma. Very solid body with some sweet scent and taste. reminds me of Polish porters, best Hungarian beer (I am very biased towards boks and prters as U might have noticed) :)

UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew pours a long lasting head of creamy light brown fine to medium sized bubbles and an opaque black brown body. It has a medium strength malt aroma. It also has a complex flavor that is sweet and has notes of roasted caramel and a little chocolate. I rather liked the combination as this brew went down very easy. I could drink more of this if I could find it. This bottle was in the bargain bin for $0.95. What a deal this was!

Poured a tan head with good lacing on all sides of my mug. The aroma to me was both chocolate and licorice. The body was black. This was a very smooth brew in my opinion and one that I truly enjoyed drinking.

A very good beer for casual drinkers. Not too subtle or complex, but with a pleasant round taste, velvet mouthfeel and a very appealing appearance.

Bottle courtesy of Milwaukee YeHa! white elephant (score!) Dark, pretty much opaque and brown in color with a creamy, mossy, 1/3" dark tan head. Aroma rolls up prunes, plums, rum raisin, pepper, black licorice, brown sugar and dry chocolate. Even a hint of black patent malt wafts on the coattails as well. Flavor takes us in the right direction. Hearty and full flavored. Chocolatey toffee fortes with a distant plum pudding and graham cracker crust vibe. Ripe, burnt, purple skinned fruits meld magnificently with rich chocolate bock allegories. Arid chocolateness countermands the creamy bock goodness. Excellently balanced and quite the masseuse on the palate. Finish reveals earthen tobacco, bakers chocolate and flame licked prunes. Simply a damn good bock.

Wonderful chocolate aroma. Dark brown color, small head. Quite bitter flavor, but well balanced with sweetness from the malt.

Almost pitch black colour, dark brown head. Very thick, well bodied; taste is complex with roasted flavour and some chocolate and coffee notes. Very good bock.

Thanks for this Nuffield! Dark brown in color with maroon edges. Sweet, black licorice aroma. Excellent flavor, smooth and fruit, summer berries, slightly nutty finish. This medium bodied beer is very tastey and easy to drink.
