evilempire (118), sheffield, South Yorkshire, England Mar 6, 2008 draught in Nagykanisza. yet another brewery that brews a pretty awful lager, but then redeems themselves with a decent dark. Similar to Tomislav, being a deep ruby-black, slight head (brown) that lasted throughout. Fruity, malty body with a dry aftertaste
Muggus69 (281), Sydney, Australia Aug 30, 2008 500ml bottle, Bazaar Beer Café, Sydney. Near-black body, almost opaque with bit of ruby highlight, small dense tan head. Rich vinous aroma, dried fruits, dark chocolate and nuts, not overpowering. Thick body, low carbonation, alcohol definately shows its colours, some slight astrigency to contrast the sweetness. Plenty of dark fruit on the body, plums and prunes, raisins and dark grapes, with a backbone of rich dark malt chocolate. Finish is a bit on the gritty side, drying and a tad alcoholic. Certainly packs a punch, and a 500ml bottle surely acts as a sedative. Good dessert beer, couldn’t see myself drinking a whole bottle again though! iammarc (186), Inverness, Scotland Jul 27, 2008 Very impressed with this one. Similar to Silva Dark Strong Beer from Romania, but with a bigger hit and a more roasted taste. I got a pleasant caramel taste when it first hit my tongue, which then proceeded to dance about my mouth with joy. Bottled, Bar Kelta, Budapest. Dark ruby color, steady tan head. Aroma is interesting: thick mix of sour milk, red currant and toasted malts. Medium-, almost full-bodied. Caramelly, slightly grainy, some toasted notes and some alcohol. I have no idea what this beer wants to be: dark malt liquer? Doggythedog (1076), Split, Croatia Apr 13, 2008 0.5l bottle purchased at some store in Budapest<br /> Poured an impressively dark brown/black colour with a tiny brown head that went away too damn fast. The nose is roasty and malty, quite nice, some caramel. The taste is good but doesn’t match the expectations set by the appearance and the nose... light macchiato, with some low quality milk chocolate. Some roastiness, weak lq, slightly acidic hopiness, weak caramel. Alcohol well hidden (but not perfectly). A bit warming. Not the fullest of bodies, but really heavy for Hungary. The best macro in Hungary I guess, taking a niche that (the infinitely superior) Tomislav takes here in Croatia.
