bottled, at the prague xmas beer markets, 08, some people didn’t want half of their bottle. deep shade of amber with some bacon and rolled oat aroma, some caramel sweetness, only mild smoked flavours, somewhat tinny, bitter finish. anyways, i was glad to have a chance to try something from 3 kronen, having already been out to the brewery, only to find it closed at midday on sunday

Draught at the brewpub. Clear dark brown colour. Big stable tan head. Good mild smoke flavour. Clean and pleasant.

Bright amber. Fairly rich smoke nose, light caramel. Smokey-caramelly palate...good balance. The bitterness is fairly robust for the style. There’s a slight alcoholic strength in the finish as well, somehow. Fairly dry in the finish with a spicy accent.

Draft @ brewpub. Coppery-red color with slight haze. The off-white head is stable, leaves some lacing. Hammy sweet aroma is inviting and assertively smokey. A little thin in the finish but has a lingering smoke that makes up for that. Dry, very woody. Spicy but not peppery. More like turmeric, a dry and subtle spice. An accessible beer.

(7/2/08) Draught sample at the brewpub in Memmelsdorf. Clear deep reddish amber color. Aroma of smoked meat and hints of earth. Sweetish flavor with light caramel maltiness and some sausage. Medium-bodied.

Flute glass at the brewery in Memmelsdorf. Mostly clear dark burgundy red colored body with a tan head. Nose of smoky caramel malt and raisin bread, some smoked pork or ham as well. Flavor is crisp then wet, sweet up front with some maple and caramel developing over the middle, before a wet, slightly meaty, subtly smoky finish. Doughy, light and tasty overall. Not a smoke bomb, but fairly nice in it subtleness.

A tasty beer. Medium body. The head does not last long. Not a strong smokey taste, with a somewhat bitter aftertaste. Goes down smoothe.
