COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Turfsteker is a dark beer with caramel flavor brewed with barley from Drente. It has the same characteristics like the peat from former days - a warming feeling and redbrown color. It's unfiltered and non-pasturized so all it's flavors come fully to their justice.

33 cl bottle @ Gastropub Tuulensuu, BBE 15.11.2012
Aroma has sweet sugar and raisins and some solvent-like alcohol. Flavour has harsh and bitter alcohol with some sweet raisins. Not good, alcohol comes through way too much and becomes metallic at the end.

Bottle @ home, shared with DutchDrebus. Brown / dark amber color, off-white head. Smell butter and like a small piece of candy I loved when I young. Sticky texture.

Dark nut brown color, steady beige head. Caramelly and alcoholic aroma. Medium-bodied. Caramelly, alcoholic flavor too .. not smokey but maybe peat mouldy. Typical Van Steenberge.

Shared a bottle with benzai. Colour is very nice. Other than that it’s nothing really special. Easy to drink, bit boring.

Bottle 330ml. @ home.

Clear light dark red amber color with a large, frothy to fizzy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, dark malt, dried fruit, wood, sweet malt notes, light to moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet, light light acidic, and moderate bitter with a long duration, dark malt, brown sugar, caramel, berry, malt extract ? Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20100820]

Bottle at home. Pours a clear deep dark ruby red to brown with a very thick creamy foamy off-white head that laces. Complex aroma with fruity malts, peat, licorice, yeast and some buttery diacetyl. Flavor of British ale, some chocolate, peat, roasted malts, fruits, diacetyl, alcohol and some bitter hops. Quite like this one. A bit watery texture though and a little rough edges with a slight imbalance. Dry bitter finish.
