COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We married our spicy Belgian yeast with a pile of malt and 900 pounds of sour cherries! Pairs well with dessert or as an aperitif. This beer could be laid down, but donít deny yourself the pleasure of enjoying the intense fruit and spice flavors fresh!

Thanks Jonas (and CapFlu?). Slightly pinkish, light amber. The aroma has candy cherry with some alcoholic notes. Sweet alcohol on the palate with some cherry notes. Fairly straightforward brew, not much going on. Most of these strong fruit beers donít work out well.

The search was for tartness, being cherries and all. What I liked was it wasnít too sweet. Bottom line: Rather neutral, not bitter or sourness or too sweet, but also somewhat dull. I liked the yeasty Belgians, and secondary cherry flavour, so drank the bottle. I do not mean to rain on the parade of great BA reviews before me. Thanks Derek for the bottles.

UPDATED: NOV 14, 2010 650mL bottle, pours a vibrant reddish orange with a small head. Aroma of sour cherries and yeast. Flavour of sour cherries, yeast, citrus, tartness and some acidity. Quite nice.

Bottle, thanks Todd. Cherry, marzipan and light raspberry aroma. Golden red, low head. Sweet berry start, marzipan, sparkly mouthfeel, berry finish. Must have been amazing when it was fresh.

Nose of nice tart fresh cherries on top of light bread, dust, and lightly phenolic belgian yeast. Pours pinkish red with a fizzy white head that settles to nothing. Nice color though. Flavors of fresh tart cherries, light spicy/sweet belgian yeast, a hint of hay, dust, and bread. Nice lingering cherry flavor never becomes medicinal or gross. Light alcohol starts to come through as it warms. Good stuff.

Bottle. Papaya color, sparkling. Yeasty peach and nectarine aroma is a bit candylike but nice. Mild body and is easy-going. Slightly thin but is actually quite pleasant that way. Has a Marachino sweet-tart Kirsch thing going on. Finishes dry and Kirch-like too.

UPDATED: APR 3, 2012 From the 3/2012 3R6P tasting. +++Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark orange-amber color with no head and no lacing. The aroma was bread, yeast and faint cherries. The flavor was sweet tart cherry, cherry pits and cherry pie filling. The finish was long cherry pie filling and yeast. Moderately full bodied. The alcohol was well hidden. Nice.

(650ml bottle) Purchased at Spinnakers Spirit Merchant in James Bay, Victoria, for $6.19. Pours a peachy-orange hue. Nose is sour, somewhat lime. Sour cherries come out on the tongue, light, smooth - really not indication of the higher ABV. I suspect for 99% of drinkers this beer is caught somewhere too far in the middle as its not terribly cherry for the immature palate yet its not tart enough for the seasoned veteran. I really like the subtle nature but a good sour mid-palate is always appreciated - how many other Canadian breweries have tried this style of Strong Belgian (>8% ABV) with Cherry? I can only think of Spinnakers Fog Fighter Cherry (Victoria, BC) and Steamworks Sour Cherry Ale (Vancouver, BC). This means that BC rules again.

Very sweet aroma with cherries and plenty of fruit. It almost seems floral and a bit soapy. Clear pinkish-brown body is topped by a low, fizzy, off white (pink tinged) head that recedes quite rapidly to a ring. Flavour offers sour cherries and a dark woodiness up front that is then overwhelmed by candy-like sweetness. Tartness re-emerges in the aftertaste and lingers along with a more nutty marzipan sweetness. Medium body seems a bit prickly and carbonation is somewhat aggressive at first but shortlived. Alcohol is not at all apparent. Iíve had this for about six weeks but it seems like itís already past its prime. Tulip glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle purchased at Brewery Creek in May 2010.

Pink, fast fading white head.Stale metallic cherry nose.Sour vinegary cherry flavour, unpleasant alcohol heat. Stale spicy yeast overtones. A poor effort
