The first in Driftwood’s Bird of Prey Wild Ale series, this sour ale was inspired by the Coopers Hawk that took residence in the brewery for a full 24 hours. Brewed in its honour, this wild ale spent a year in a mix of American and French oak wine barrels. Tart and funky, this beer can be aged a very long time, but is equally enjoyable now.

Bottle: Poured a reddish color ale with a nice thick foamy head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma of tart notes with some oak and cherry is very pleasant. Taste is a super well balanced mix of tart notes with some oak and cherry with light residual sugar notes with almost no acidity. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. That is a world-class Flanders Fed with good level of complexity and perfect level of drinkability.

Really nice sour. Orange amber pour. Little head. Nose is musty, cherry, sour oak. Flavour is all that and more. Well done driftwood! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled at the RBSG 2014. It poured a dark orange color with an off-white head. The aroma was of sour cherry, vanilla, oak, pineapple and sugar. The taste was similar with alcohol and some woodiness. Yum.

Sampled at the RBSG14 Grand Tasting - Pours reddish amber with an off-white head. The aroma has a nice mix of tartness and malt. It shows caramel, berries and oak as up front notes. It has a medium smooth body with semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts with berries, cherries, vanilla and oak. The finish is tart and clean. Very enjoyable beer.

Sampled at RBSG. Handed to me by Ferris. Amber brown and clouded. A beige head. A funky sour aroma is full of bark, and figs. This is one that will change with each trying of it. The flavor brings that with some chocolate covered cherries and then lemon. So intetesting.

Tasted at RBSG grand tasting. 22oz bottle. Half hazy amber orange color. Thin off-white head. Dots of lace. Looks cool. Great funky nose. Good cream, vanilla. Medium body. Smooth, kind of soft lighter carbonation. Good moderate sour taste, light sweet. Tasty flanders!

Carbonation moyenne.
