COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The first in Driftwoodís Bird of Prey Wild Ale series, this sour ale was inspired by the Coopers Hawk that took residence in the brewery for a full 24 hours. Brewed in its honour, this wild ale spent a year in a mix of American and French oak wine barrels. Tart and funky, this beer can be aged a very long time, but is equally enjoyable now.

Lip smacking amazement. I could last 3 months on a desert island drinking nothing but this wonderful concoction. Top shelf.

Bottle to glass Sour cherry, lemon, brett, peach. Reddish amber with a fizzy head that immediately disappears. Taste is funky and sour, loads of fruit like grape, cherry and lemon.

Draught at Alibi Room, Vancouver
cloudy red-amber color with small head. Sour and fruity aroma, fermenting berries, some strawberry. Dry mouthfeel in the front although it has almost some sugars later; not too aggressive, but with very strong astringency, medium sourness, fruity, berries, some cherries; the final has some yeast/dough/bread that would better be avoided.
Very good.

A delicious sour. Pours a clear copper red. Aromas of red wine, red wine vinegar, oak, lemon, barnyard. Flavors are oaky, sour cherry, red wine, lemon. Incredibly drinkable. Smooth and tasty!

650 to small wine glass, beer pours a turbid brown with almost no head. Iím not gonna lie, it looks pretty greasy. Thankfully the aroma of this is pretty mindblowing; sour and funky, lots of brett notes, rotten fruit, citric fruits, candy. A bit of booze too. Very complex, smells exactly like the Belgian offerings. Taste wise, itís sour driven with not much sweetness to counter. Of interesting note is the fact that the hops are lurking in the background as well which isnít common but a nice touch. Lots of subtle grassy notes with a nice sour punch. Palate is thin mouthfeel and a bit watery, more body would be great. Nice and dry though could use more carb. Alcohol undetectable. Overall, this really impressed me and of all the Belgian styled beers available that are locally made this one is extremely well done. Iím nitpicking here and there but this is fantastic stuff! Thanks for the bottle Patrick.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear amber brown with minimal off-white head. Strong sour aroma, mild sour funk, some mild apple vinegar. Same taste, not too sour. Quite light body. Good, but quite safe and therefore nothing amazing.

650ml bottle. Ruby red pour with big, bubbly head. Sour cherries, merlot, oak, strawberries, ripe green apple, funky yeast. Huge aroma, big flavour. Rich and tart; lightly sweet. A bit thin through the body with a Champagne-like mouthfeel. Anxious to see how this cellars...

Pours medium copper with little to no carbonation. Smells of funk with some sourness. Tastes of berries, with tartness and light sourness. Medium-full bodied with a smooth texture. One of the lighter, accessible, and more pleasant sours Iíve tasted.

On tap at alibi. What a treat. Hazy amber with no cap. Aroma of browned sour cherry, a touch of biscuit, and wood. Taste is sour cherry and dry wood. Greatly smooth and almost creamy. Greatly dry. Aged quite well.

On tap at Alibi room. Reasonably clear rusty brown with a small pale head. Aroma is sour cherry, sour plum, red currants, hint of oak and balsamic vinegar. Slightly sticky mouthfeel, medium-full bodied, sweet and sour on the palate with a sweet fruity finish. Taste is strawberries, sour cherries, plums, red currants, hint of brown sugar. Damn tasty.
