On gravity at Bristol Beer Festival 14/3/2013. Almost black in colour with no head. Easy drinking mild with a touch of chocolate, some dark fruits and lightly toasted finish. Good.

Clear dark brown colour with a small, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, bread, roasted, caramel, dusty. Flavour is moderate sweet, light light acidic and light bitter with a average duration, roasted, chocolate, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20120506]

[Cask at Chippenham BF] Dark brown with a light fizz. Lots of milk chocolate, a little dry roastiness and some black pepper in the finish. Nice, although I’m not sure why you’d name your beer after a skin condition... c8.

Cask @ brewpub. Black with red tint. Nice lace. Excellent chocolate aroma. Excellent creamy mouthfeel and licorice finish. Everything you look for in a dark mild.

Bottle conditioned at the brewpub. Pours deep ruby against the lanterns with a slick beige lid. Slightly sloppy condition but it suits; red apple, liquorice and roast aroma, maybe chilli; mouth slight mildew, charcoal, some black pepper, even chilli burn; hint of coffee. Definite chilli afterglow as you hit the dregs. Unusual, spicy mild with enough roasted malt character to carry it. .

Cask conditioned at The Anchor, Birmingham. Dark brown with tan head. Unfortunate medicinal note right at the start, sharp unbalanced mild. There are some burnt, smokey notes within the beer. Finished ok, improves as you get through the pint.
