With just enough dark malt to be black this Porter leans toward the dry side in its malt profile. The addition of a partial sour mash (not uncommon in pre-Industrial Revolution Porters) lends a subtle tartness to the bittersweet chocolate flavour that dominates.

really impressed with this one really great smell of choc. and pretty much exactly what you would expect a porter to taste like nice dark color with a great white slightly brown head and taste a bitter sweet rich smooth taste that stays and gets better hell fucking yea driftwood

Dark brown pour with medium sized beige head. Aroma of malts, chocolate, hint of coffee and faint citrus. Taste of roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate, faint coffee and a very faint tart sourness coming through on the slightly dry finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, nicely balanced, good porter.

650 ml bottle. Big, bold Porter. Pours dark opaque brown with thin head. Big malt and bitter chocolate flavour. Medium body with average carbonation. Not my favourite style of beer, but this beer is fairly well done.

Poured from 650mL bottle (cap printed "bottled Nov 13, 2013"). Dark black, creamy look, full tan head. Aroma is predominantly roast malt and coffee. Taste is the same. Medium body, milky texture, quick finish. Didn’t get any chocolate like some others got, perhaps the fact a significant number of other raters did get chocolate and a significant number of others did not suggests a fair bit of inconsistency between batches.
