COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
With just enough dark malt to be black this Porter leans toward the dry side in its malt profile. The addition of a partial sour mash (not uncommon in pre-Industrial Revolution Porters) lends a subtle tartness to the bittersweet chocolate flavour that dominates.

Poured from 650mL bottle (cap printed "bottled Nov 13, 2013"). Dark black, creamy look, full tan head. Aroma is predominantly roast malt and coffee. Taste is the same. Medium body, milky texture, quick finish. Didn’t get any chocolate like some others got, perhaps the fact a significant number of other raters did get chocolate and a significant number of others did not suggests a fair bit of inconsistency between batches.

Pours a very dark opaque brown with a thin but consistent tan head with a touch of spotty lace up the glass. Aroma consists of roasted malts just short of being burnt, black malt, chocolate, coffee, and bready. Flavour is lightly burnt, coffee, chocolate, and a slight dark malt dryness.

Pours a clear black with a red hue and a frothy brown cap that leaves some lacing. Aroma of chocolate, sweet dried fruits,, roasted malts, coffee and cocoa. Taste is smokey roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and a nice spicy/tart hop flavor. Excellent easy drinking robust porter.

For some reason this felt half way between an average porter and a Scotch ale. Pours quite dark, seems to have a lot of black patent malt (but what do I know?), very smokey on the nose... so you’d expect viscosity to be think, but it isn’t. Quite robust, I didn’t pick up much sourness at all, quite a dry finish though. I think if this weren’t so thin it would be rating much higher, because the aroma and taste is great... hey, dare to be different though.

650 ml bottle. Pours a dark red/brown with medium tan head. Strong aromas of cocoa powder and dried coffee grounds with a slight hint of dark fruit. Dry but with a twist. Flavors of burnt malts, espresso, bitter chocolate, and a little cream and licorice.

650ml bottle. Black with thin mocha head. Burnt coffee, toast, rich cocoa and molasses. Medium, lasting bitterness with sweet chocolate overtones. Smooth and dry, big-bodied, creamy. Strong flavour profile stands out.

Overall a very tasty Porter. Not too sweet which I like, and just the right amount of chocolate notes. Another good Driftwood seasonal. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
