COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Crooked Coast is inspired by the original Alt-style beer of Dusseldorf; “Alt” is German for old and the style a vestige of the days before lager yeast was discovered, when ales were what German Brewers produced. A marriage of the aromas of both German noble hops and caramel Munich malt, this quintessential session beer is defined by its delicate malt-hop balance.

650 ml bottle from Canada Craft club. Aroma: biscuit malt, caramel, peat, sulfure on a slightly fruity background. App: cloudy copper reddish, small off white head frothy head. Taste and palate: medium body, oily and sweet with subtle dry bitter finish. Overall: altbier, eh? Nope. A glass will be way enough. Felt off to me.

Bottle. Reddish copper in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas are of bready malts, caramel, and mild fruit. Flavors are of sweet bread dough, dried red berries, and a bit of herbal and citrus. Somewhat of a tree bark bitterness, with a slightly twangy mineral finish. Lots going on here. Pretty good for the style if Alts are your thing.

Boutip (5680) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 25, 2016
Bottle: Poured a clear light copper color Alt with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt with light cereal notes is quite enticing. Taste is also a mix of dry caramel malt notes with some clean cereal notes. Body is about average for style with good carbonation. Not bad for the style but missing some of the yeast signature associated to the style.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy deep amber pour with an off-white head. Aroma is light caramel with some floral and grainy notes. Taste is pretty light but balanced, like a Kolsch or helles lager, a bit of sweetness with some floral and slight fruit notes, touch of bitterness to balance. Good for the style, but nothing that remarkable.

650ml bottle. Nutty brown colour, slightly hazy with a thick white head. Caramel, grassy aroma. Caramel dominates the flavour too, but with a hoppy bite on the finish

bright chestnut brown, medium bodied, fruity red apple, slight herbal bitterness, a little sweet. Nothing spectacular.

UXO (1285) - CANADA - NOV 10, 2015
Appearance: clear pale to medium amber with two fingers of rocky tan head, excellent retention and lacing. (5/5) Aroma: caramel, bready malt, grass, earth. (7/10) Taste: medium-light sweet, medium bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, short duration finish. (4/5) Not malt-forward on the nose as such, but certainly malt-emphatic. The maltiness and the hops play off each other well, with neither clearly dominating the profile. However, the taste has much less sweetness than the nose would suggest, and the overall feel is surprisingly dry. Very well done, if ultimately somewhat light for my tastes. (16/20)

Another enjoyable Driftwood brew. Malty bready and dry and pretty much a god damn solid beer to drink massive amounts of while contemplating illegal activities. Caramel, big lack of sweetness, tasty bitterness of whatever form, light spice trick, grassy. Big flavours that are not big. Dig dis.

Not bad, but not a favorite from driftwood. Has some interesting notes of malts and hops, mostly some dark nutty caramel flavours.
