COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Driftwood’s first lager!

Brewed entirely with luscious barley grown and malted on the Saanich Peninsula by artisan Maltster Mike Doehnel, and so named in his honour.

This dry, snappy North German-style Pils was lagered for 6 weeks and hopped generously.

cloudy golden color. Big grassy hoppy nose with some lemon notes. Dry, lemony mouth with good bitterness. Long dry bitter finish. Excellent. Much more like a Kellerbier than a classic pils, but either way it is lovely.

Pales straw pour with just a hint of haze. Medium semi-dense white head, leaves some lacing. Very hop forward aroma, Citrus and floral. Taste mixes in some cereal grain but mostly hop. Moderate lasting bitter finish is off for style but works.

Solid German style pils with German pils malts and German hops. Smooth finish that could be a bit crisper bit otherwise nice malty profile with a floral hop presence... Nice first lager effort!

Bottle, shared with my father in law. Hazy pale yellow lasting white head. Lovely bright fruity hop character on a crisp clean pale malt base, with a moderately bitter finish. Very nice hoppy pils.

650ml brown bottle. Unfiltered pale straw colour with an average looking white head. Nose has grains, wheaty, bready, slight sweetness and citrus. Taste is grainy with some sweetness, citrus and grassy hops. A decent pils.

Bright yellow and hazy, short white head. Aroma is crisp hop, slightly biscuit, slight yeast. Overall quite nice little, but certainly light on flavour.

Appearance: hazy pale straw with one fat finger of fluffy white head, excellent retention and well-defined lacing. (4/5) Aroma: lemon zest, grassy, biscuity malt. (8/10) Taste: medium-light sweet and medium bitter. (8/10) Palate: light body, moderate carbonation, crisp and light bitter finish. (4/5) Dunno whether this adheres all that closely to the style, but it’s definitely a lot of fun: quite bright and citrusy, with a clean crisp finish. Far more interesting than a more typical pilsener. (16/20)

650ml bottle pours a slightly hazy straw color with a finger of white head that has decent retention and leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is light citrus with some grass and grains. Taste is a light citrus and grassy hop bitterness with a light spicy note and a light malty sweetness. Light grainy mouth feel. Light bodied with average carbonation. Overall, a worthy brew for the style and recommended for those who like to have a tasty lighter beer once in a while.

A very good pilsner. Crisp, clean and refreshing with a pinch of lemon zest, grassy hops and grainy malts. A light floral yeast, light spice and heavy cereal notes. Light sweetness. Well balanced and very clean and refreshing

[6714-20140830] Bottle. Light fruity plastic aroma. Slightly hazy, pale yellow white body with a medium-lasting foamy white body. Pasta straw flavour has an odd light yeast finish. Medium body. Average. (6/3/6/3/13) 3.1
