3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Boutip (3459) - Gatineau, - NOV 20, 2009
Bottle: Poured a lightly hazy bright light orangey with a medium size head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of floral hops with light citrus and bitter finish is quite enjoyable. Taste is also a nice mix between some floral hops with some nice clean citrus notes with a medium bitter finish and light sweet malt backbone. Body is quite full with good carbonation and no appearance of alcohol thought it can be felt at the end of the glass. Nothing extraordinary but well done nonetheless.

Thanks to Derek for this. This is the best harvest IPA I’ve ever had. Pours a hazy amber gold with a small white ring. Aroma is pine hops and citrus with a slight spice. Taste has a bold pine hop bitterness with citrus and some great malt sweetness that balances this so well. Great beer.

Ahhhhhh.. this is how an IPA should taste! Excellent right out of the gates. My happy nose is treated with smelly things. Pine, oranges, grapefruit - cannot decide between rrgf or unsweetneed... there is a sweet funky floral note that swirls around with ease, apricots and peaches. The orange is quite sweet - not candy sweet tho - very similar to these stellar organic oranges that you can only buy at Save on Foods - they are to die for - everything that your old ass taste buds crave to turn back time to when fruit actually tasted good - any local reading this - trust me and go get these freaking oranges as they are truly the greatest tasting oranges of our lifetimes. Great sharp citrus flavour, freaking hard bitterness but not so much where these wonderful fruity flavours can’t shine. Solid malt support group... but one of those groups one would only hear as background thoughts when required, pine stuff, great spice - I wish I knew how to describe it but I can say that it is unlike anything I can recall in an IPA and this beer for whatever reason went straight to me brain. It’s got decent depth, a thick and full middle and a rounded after taste of things I already typed, finishes as strong as it begins which is very cool... odd juts got a hint of a strongly flavoured well done craft lager on a couple of finishes... I blame the alcohol. Carbonation is a touch touch in respect to the bitterness but who cares. Stellar brew that I enjoyed from the second the cap was pried off - if only this quality was achieved locally.

The aroma on this beer was subtle for me. There was of course fresh hoppy notes from the sartori and pine scents. Very nice indeed. Very colourful appearance with its amber and hazy hue. The head was not very large but quite white. There was definately a sweet hoppiness taste that showed freshness of the hops straight from Chilliwack, BC. Overall the mouth feel was clean and crisp with a little hoppiness kick at the end with not a long aftertaste. I wish this was available all year round but alas we have to await until next year again. If you ever get the chance try it out.

Bottle split with mcberko. Pours a lightly hazy orange / brown with a white foamy head. Aroma of piney hops, caramel malts, earthy and leafy hops, apricot and orange. Flavour of piney hops, caramel malts, earthy and fresh hops, apricot and orange. Super fresh, tangy, with a nice gradient of flavours. Dry, citrus finish.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Lagerboy (419) - British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 14, 2011
IPA Taste Day, Round One: Hazy amber orange, decent off white head. Intense resinous hop aroma and taste. Like drinking fresh spruce sap.
Wet hops are overpowering, could use more malt for balance. Bitter hoppy finish. NFL (Not For Lagerboys)

As a home brewer that likes the hops, this beer is pure nectar on the palate. The fresh hops explode with flavor and linger until your ready for another mouthful. I wish I could home brew beer this good.
Granville Island has a similar fresh hop beer with Sartori Ranch hops but no where near the same as Driftwoods. In fact I can pull off a better brew than GI with fresh dried hops.

Fantastic... love the fresh citrus hops. Very drinkable without being overly bitter. I wish all IPA’s could be this fresh! I also wish this could be available as I had to drive around quite a bit to round up 6 bottles.

This is a highly anticipated beer for the people on Vancouver Island, being produced only once a year. Colour: hazy orange. Nose: grapefruit, brown sugar. This is an incredible IPA - taste is bitter and nicely hopped, slight sweetness from the malt comes through on the finish balancing it out with lingering citrus notes.
4.6 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 ardiesr (45) - British Columbia, CANADA - OCT 13, 2011
22 oz bomber from firefly. Aroma of resin and pine, strong citrus. Amazing. Very clear light amber colour in the glass. Taste is many layers of grassy and citrusy hops. Grapefruit and sweet maltiness in there as well, ending with a satisfying bitterness. Surprisingly full mouthfeel, maybe from pounds of hop oils. Amazingly deep IPA, great depth in bitterness and hop flavour and aroma. Great.
