Bottle from Kump. Many thanks! Hazy amber colour, white foam. Sweet nose of passion fruit, papaya and citrus. Bitter hoppy. Very nice Dipa.

Golden amber pour. Good sized lasting head. Big pine resin aroma, passion fruit, grapefruit. Taste follows the aroma, pine resin up front, citrus and passion fruit, caramel malt. Juicy and better. Medium body. Eye catching bottle too!

From a bomber into a glass. Pours a golden amber, with one finger of white pillowy head. Huge citrus fruit on the nose in this one - mangoes, passion fruit, grapefruit, pine, a bit of lemon. Wow, really superb through the palate. Not overwhelming bitterness, but matching citrus up front closing with a slight bitterness on the finish. Incredibly drinkable. Really enjoyed this one.

650ml brown bottle. Gold. Pretty clear. Nice creamy foam on top, above average retention and thick bands of lace in the glass. Aromas of spicy resinsous hops, citrus, fruit. Tastes of resin, piney, spicy and grapefruiy hops, a bit floal as well, malt sweetness underneath. Long aftertaste and lengthy bitterness too. Medium bodied, creamy. Powerful, but not heavy. Must get more...

650ml bottle bought at Bottle Jockey. Pours almost clear golden with a white head. Intense aroma is piney and tropical fruits. Taste is sligtly sweet, piney and tropical fruit bitterness. Very bitter piney, resin aftertaste. Good balanced, but a little bit boozy. Good stuff!

A whalloping brew with a huge aroma of pine and resin. The pour is awesome, solid carbonation in a bright orange amber body and a sticky, lacing heavy yellowish head. The nose is sweet, caramel, pine, tons of resin and a bit of citrus. Very big and actually a bit boozy on the finish with a big punch of resin and lingering pine and citrus notes. Nicely done. Malty and resinous!

Appearance: clear pale amber with two fingers of fluffy ivory head, excellent retention and lacing. (5/5) Aroma: citrus, tropical fruit, dank pine, caramel malt. (8/10) Taste: moderate-high sweet, high bitter. (8/10) Palate: medium oily body, moderate carbonation, sticky and warming bitter finish. (4/5) Massive across the board, but balanced. I wouldn’t call the hops “bright”, exactly, but they’re certainly fresh - only a couple of weeks old. It’s got to be at least 75-80 IBU, and that amount of bitterness requires a significant supporting malt presence. So, it’s sweet, sure, but not inappropriately so. Drinks pretty easy, with the high ABV manifesting only as a mild warming. An excellent example of the style. (And don’t you just love the new label?) (16/20)

On tap at Hops Northwest in New Westminster. A dark reddish amber beer with generous white head and complex nose. In the mouth it’s wonderfully sweet, citrus, bitter, floral and malty.

Make no mistake, folks. This is a big beer, and I’m not talking about the 9% alcohol rating.

There is so much going on here flavour wise. Everything about the flavour of this beer is big. Big hop bitterness. Big fruity sweetness and big malts. This here’s a winner, folks! 4

I have never had a bad batch of 20 pounder. It is consistent throughout the seasonal release. It is a heavy beer and does sometimes come across that way occasionally when the heavy citrus and pineapple curtain parts, which is seldom. Lacking only slightly in body, this thing has a beatific start only matched by the hoppy finish, which lingers in sweet notes of fruit salad. A favourite in my house.
