4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Thanks to Derek for this. Pours a dark golden yellow with a big frothy white top. Aroma is intense grapefruit and floral hops with a little bready. Taste is a nice blast of grapefruit hops that is dry bitterness. Resiny, stickly sweet, really enjoyed.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
650 ml. bottle (9% abv.) a friend left in our fridge. Pours a thick, oily light brown copper colour. Head is thick, sudsy, and frothy leaving big lacing around the glass. Aroma is hops (cascade) honey, grass, alcohol, floral, and earthy. Taste is tons of hops, honey, caramel, grass, grapefruit, mint, plums, grapes, mild alcohol, and pepper. Palate is warm with little carbonation, traces of pepper, and a very bitter dry aftertaste from the heavy amount of hops. Tastes very pure and real, no extracts or weird preservatives found in this brew. An excellent DIPA from a very reputable brewery.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a clear orangish amber with a huge frothy off white head. Aroma of citrus hops, grapefruit, sweet floral notes and sweet bready pale malts. Taste is grapefruit citrus hops, floral sweetness and bready malts that transitions into a nice dry bitterness that sticks around not too long but just long enough.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20

I don’t think this is as good as the standard Fat Tug. I guess everything’s been upped but it all feels out of balance. I wish I could give exact recommendations and not be a complete neophyte about specific hop types but all I can say is that the best double IPAs I’ve had focus on the aromas, whereas this seems to take the Fat Tug and up the bittering hops and malts only... (focusing on the former) whereas I feel that both of those could stay the same and just upping the aroma hops would have made this a "Great" DIPA. I just had a Lagunitas Hop Stoopid, and comparatively this feels flat. I always feel like an ass giving reviews on things better than something I could ever make, but there you go.

This years is better than lasts. Pretty much a higher ABV fat tug in most aspects. Great floral and citrus notes in aroma and taste. A pile of piney hops chase the caramel malt tongue tingle. Perfect carbonation from this clear, copper treat.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
650 ml bottle. Pours a clear orange/amber with very light head. Aromas of grapefruit and ripe tropical fruit tending to pineapple with a bit of toasted malts in the background. Bitter orange and pink grapefruit up front, followed by nice smooth malt and toffee flavors. Light bitter finish. Tasty. Seems even better this year.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
650ml. Golden orange, foamy white head with lasting lacing. Aroma is all West Coast hop -- green and fresh with lots of tangerine/orange on the one hand, pine/herb on the other. There’s a tasty malt background hidden under an abusive amount of hop bitterness. Big bitterness up front and in the lasting dry finish. Overwhelming hop content gives it a slightly unpleasant medicinal quality.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Amber orange pour with a thick white head. Great lacing. Aroma is full of perfumey, floral hops and grapefruit. Quite bitter up front with lots of grapefruit and tangerine. Mid-palate, the malts show up and provide a nice sweet caramel balance. And then the torch is handed back to the hops for the finish to provide that floral and perfume character picked up in the nose. Quite bitter on the finish, and no trace of alcohol.

Pours a lovely copper orange with a thin off-white head and great lacing. Fresh bitter citrus & light booze aroma. Bitter orange flavour with mild sweetness and lemongrass in the finish. Citrus & spicy hops. Good carbonation, and light creaminess in the body. Fantastic IPA!
