I’m not sure if this is the right listing as my bomber shows 9.5% ABV. Pours dark brown in the glass but shows through a deep clear copper when held up to light. There’s a huge creamy beige head that settles in as a thick cap. Aroma is really malty, extremely sweet with lots of caramel malts and molasses. I do get some sweet dark fruits with raisins and plums and a little rum and smoke. The taste is also all about the malts, sugary sweet with smoke in the background. The rum-soaked plums are there but also a more toasty bread character than the aroma suggested. The mouthfeel is crazy smooth with strong carbonation and just sticks on the palate after each sip. This is probably not in the upper echelon of scotch ales but it’s really drinkable and definitely on the sweeter side of the style. Good stuff.

Enjoyed a 1 Pint 9.4 Fl Oz. bottle of this w/ CurtisMcArthur in Nashville, TN. Poured from the Grey/Yellow colored bottle w/ ships and a castle on it into a 12oz Jackie O’s Snifter Glass. Has no freshness/bottle date on the Aroma- Has an excellent caramel and malty aroma. Tons of sweetness and a small amount of the peaty characteristic I’m always looking for in this. Awesome! Can’t get any better. Appearance- Pours a less then .5 finger head. Has a caramel/dark brown colored body. Leaves light suds behind. Flavor- Very sweet, caramel notes from the beginning with the perfect scotch ale background. Very rich and malty. Light bitterness at the finish. Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied but thin, High Carbonation, Malty, Sweet, and a light amount of strong alcohol. Overall Impression- The BEST wee heavy beer I’ve had yet! The richness and caramel character was great with the peaty ending. I HIGHLY recommend picking this up, at any cost. I’ll be enjoying this very soon again.

A heavy wee heavy. This one had some smoky elements, really distinct malt bill.

Bottle shared by the ever ebullient Matt. Pours a clear amber brown with a thin white head. Sweet caramel, almost floral on the nose. Caramel and candied malt. Sweet malt, smooth toffee. Easy drinking, sweet and tasty. I’d like a touch more smoke, but this was still a very solid beer.

Bottle. The pour was a hazy dark mahogany with an average sized (1-2 finger) light beige frothy head that was mostly diminishing and had fair lacing. The aroma was extremely sweet of a dark bread malt and a sweet doughy yeast with notes of molasses, caramel, toffee, dark fruit and a mild alcohol tinge. The taste was heavily sweet and malty with notes of molasses and caramel throughout with the ending having a hint of dark fruit and toffee and a moderate alcohol finish. The flavor lasted an awesomely long time after the swallow with a nice sweet fruity ending. Mouthfeel was medium in body and had a syrupy dry texture with a good lively carbonation. Overall an extremely sweet and enticing brew that had a multitude of flavors coming together to create an very nice tasting ale.

650 ml. bottle. Pours a minimal short lived light beige head, over a clear copper brown (SRM 18) body....nose is sweet malts, with dried fruits including plum, raisin, fig cherry.....taste is heavy sweet malts with tones of several dried fruits, including cherry, raisin, fig, leading to the edge of a cola quality.....mouth feel light of medium, alcohol present, carbonation adds a foamy, spritz forward soda quality. This mostly meets the style. Unfortunately, the simple sweetness is too dominant, which may hide some of the malt complexity. Additionally, the alcohol is on the high end for a "Wee Heavy", and finally the mouth feel is very light considering the weight of the malt back bone which was probably used. Combining this with my favorite whisky would have the potential to create a "oh death, where is thy sting?" situation. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

taster tray at Dry Dock on 11/19/11. deep ruby pour with a small off white head. sweet dark fruit nose. med to full body with a deep caramel malt base with raisin, figs and plums. great finish with lots of dark fruit notes and caramel malts. solid beer.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, nuts, bread), with notes of vanilla and brown sugar. Flavor is heavily sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Full body, syrupy/watery texture, soft carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Well, it’s not a bad start that could be quite nice with some fixes and more depth, but as-is it’s a really simplistic sketch of a beer. Really syrupy sweet and caramel-heavy.

bomber. Been pretty happy with dry dock so far, so curious about this one. Pours a very dark brown with red hue, and half finger of beige, bubbly head. Aroma is sweet and lightly roasted, caramel, molasses, toasted nuts. Medium to full bodied with some heat on the finish. Flavor is sweet toasted nuts, with a lingering sweet finish. Didn’t live up to my expectations, but not a bad beer.

Pour is ruby red with thin to no white head on tap at brewery, aroma has notes of sweet caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruit and even some cocoa. Taste is a nice balance of sweet caramel, toffee, dark fruit, some slight spice notes along with some bitter cocoa, finishing fairly sweet.
