Chalky peanut butter nose with cocoa powder. Mildly cream flavor among the typical burnt coffee grounds and roast, with some chalky peanut and dry cocoa in the finish. A bit dry.

Draught at Boulder Strong Ale Festival. Pours opaque with an average, fizzy, dark brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (burnt grain, coffee, caramel), average hops (flowers, herbs), heavy yeast (leather) with notes of earth prunes, and dates. Full bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and a chalky finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Crushed with Jakebra at BSAF. Ok imperial stout. Roasty coffee mostly. Thin-bodied but the alcohol is well hidden. Kinda cool, kinda not.

On tap at Boulder Strong Ale Fest poured a opaque dark brown nearly black with a small lasting brown head. Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, light vanilla and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of bakers cocoa, roasted malt and carmel with a smooth lingering malty finish.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2009 On tap at the brewery. Pours black with a dark tan head. The aroma is very sharp and roasty with hints at molasses and coffee. The palate is reasonably thick and viscous for the style. Notes of raisins, molasses, and more pleasant roastiness in the flavor. A bit of hops nip at my palate. A sharp over-roasted coffee quality is present on every sip. Very good example of a tasty style.
