EValP (30), Colorado, USA Nov 13, 2006 As far as spiced ales go, this one started off positive. Great aroma that enticed me to drink. Delicious blend of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cloves as well as a trifling amount of pepper and a hint of pumpkin but no pumpkin used. Smelled like a Thanksgiving dessert as it should. Light malt aroma with perhaps some straw in it. Spicy hops and light leather in the yeast.

Initially served the head was about average from what I expect, frothy and fizzy, off-white head. It soon disappeared all together leaving me with a dark amber glass of clear sparkling ale. I sipped and tasted a light sweetness and a surprising bitter taste as well. The spices don’t show thru the taste as most other spices ales of this nature but the bitterness turned me off. It finished even heavier with a slight oily texture left in my mouth. The taste lasted quite sometime and seemed to get even stronger, maybe astringent like.
