GeneralGao (2626), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Sep 8, 2007 Draft, Brew at the Zoo Benefit in Denver. Poured an opaque black color. Head was thick and tan with good retention and lacing. Distinct coffee aroma with a hint of cocoa powder. Coffee dominated flavor with lingering mild roasty bitterness. Good stout. BeerandBlues2 (2623), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jan 8, 2007 Draught at brewery. Pours black with an average creamy light brown head, somewhat diminishing, fair lacing. Aroma is average malt (coffee, roasted), light hops (grass), average yeast (leather, leaves) with notes of tar. Medium bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation and a bitter, dark roasted coffee finish. Average duration, light sweetness and acidity, moderate bitterness, ends with a sort of sour milk flavor. Kevin (1779), Colorado, USA Jan 2, 2007 tap at the brewery.
pours a solid black with a lasting tan head. dominant coffee nose with a roasty undercurrent. coffee flavor hit me first, a bit acidic bitter but a nice coffeeflavor. i was told what kind of coffee they used in this one and didn’t take note. i know it is different from the coffee infused one though, i think it was redstone or something similar in sound. dry finishto this left a pleasant roast, light chocolate and coffee flavor. a well balanced beer that showcased the coffee well without overdoing it.
