Bottle. Pours a darker gold with smaller head. Floral hop aroma and strong malt flavors. Not overly bitter. A very good double IPA.

A basic dipa. It really Missed out. Like many beers at this place I think they know how to compete but many average for style beer. Thin fading head. No build of sour. But disappointing.

Not much aroma but great color and overall appearance. Tastes hoppy, bitter grapefruit rind but very sweet in the background. A little imbalanced with these 2 extremes. Good palate. Overall just okay.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at Falling Rock as Double IPA. Gold color. Good dry pine aroma. There is sweetness, being a double ipa, but the hops are more prominent and very drying with bitter citrus.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a murky gold orange color with a rich white head. Citrusy nose but that’s mellowed by the mounds of grain. Heavier mouthfeel with some alcohol heat, but just the right amount. Grapefruit and a little pineapple balanced with more than adequate malt.

Pale amber in color surprised me that it was lighter than the regular IPA. Good hop aroma and tasty malt flavors. Body was light/medium. Finish was dry and lingering bitterness would not fade.

Tap at Dry Dock, into a shaker pint. The info sheet at the brewery says glowing marigold with an antique white head. I’ll add that it’s hazy, probably unfiltered, and the head sticks in thick horizontal sheets. Lots of orange, a touch of vanilla, nice tropical notes, mango and pineapple in the nose. Mango sorbet. More grassy and resinous flavor, a little dank, nicely tropical again, mango nice with grapefruit. Resin lingers on the tongue.

Dry Dock is one of Colorado’s many truly excellent craft breweries. This is my favorite brew by these guys. Long before they were a micro brew pub I shopped with these guys for my home brew supplies.
This Double IPA is delicious, has a nice hop nose and is neither uber malty nor too hoppy. Just the right balance. Much less powerful on the palate than Titan or some over the top IPAs. I can have a couple more of these tonite for sure!
