On tap at the brewery. Poured a deep brown color with ruby highlights and a moderate off-white that slowly faded to a thick layer and left beautiful, thick sheets of lacing all the way to the bottom of the glass. Aroma of light toasted grain, a moderate nuttiness, some sweet caramel maltiness, a touch of roastiness, and a soft earthiness. Smooth, roasted malt entry with a soft undertone of nutty sweetness that transitions into a nice earthy dryness with a faint oxidized flavor that is paired once again with a roasted maltiness that lingers into the finish. Moderate carbonation and medium mouth feel and a nice earthy dryness. Overall, if I tasted this and had to guess the style/abv, I probably wouldn’t have said a mild at 3.5%. Its simple, tasty, and fun to drink. I really wish it was a year round beer. Awesome.

On tap at the brewery. Pour is clear brown with an amber tint and an off-white head. Great lacing. Caramelized sugar, vanilla, wood, toasted bread, and light grass in the aroma. Taste is sweet vanilla, roast, light coffee, brown sugar, and citrus ending lightly bitter. Medium mouthfeel with soft carbonation. Not bad.

Tap @ brewery. Clear, caramel brown appearance with an off white head. Heavy toffee, caramelized sugary, light vanilla aroma. Fairly well balanced , though a little bitter. More rich toffee and caramel in the taste.

Clear dark burnt orange, thin spotty white head. Smells of chocolaty creamy toffee and caramel malts, with just a touch of smokey wood tones. Flavor is light and crisp, as expected from a beer of this ABV. Taste is toasty dark malts, a touch of roasted toffee, and some subtle caramel graininess. Overall kinda dark flavor, but again, really light body.

UPDATED: JUL 30, 2015 Tasted on tap in standard pint glass. Poured a very dark brown color with full beige head, some retention, little lace. Aromas of roasted barley, fruity yeast phenols and distant hops. Flavor is malty sweet with added complexity from non-fermentable flaked and/or roasted barley, as well as hints of toast, nuts, caramel, apricot and plums. Very light body and alcohol percentage, but a satisfying mouthfeel and tasty finish. This beer has won important industry awards and went on to become the model recipe for the 2009 American Homebrew Association’s Big Brew Day. I’ve never enjoyed a "small beer" so much, and have to admit it wouldn’t be as unique if "upgraded" to porter strength. Excellent.
