Pour on tap at the CO rare beer tasting 2012, dark reddish pour with thin tan head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of spice, earth, slight cardboard, hints of grain, slight fruity notes as well. Taste was a mix of caramel, mix of sugars with some fruit, hints of spice, slight cocoa, touch of cardboard like oxidation but not bad, finishing fairly sweet slightly bitter.

On tap at Rackhouse Pub, I was hoping this would be Bligh’s but it was listed as Walt’s Barleywine and was nowhere near as good as Bligh’s. Orange-amber color, short head. Smells grainy and unmistakeably like the local Purina factory. If you’ve ever driven past it on I-70 you know what I mean. The flavor was more dog-food grains and alcohol, not pleasant at all. Hazy brown color, tan head. Sweet, malty, hoppy taste. Medium mouthfeel, high bitterness. Hoppy scent.

Murky brownish mahogany with a light beige head that clings around the glass. Intense aroma of sugary rum, vanilla, oak, char, cherry, raisins, and burnt caramel. Taste was kinda boozy but in a delightful complex way. Got lots of caramel and vanilla, with some fruity tones of cherry and plum and raisin, oak and wood char, and perhaps some nutmeg and pecan as well. Very delightful.
