Commercial Description:
Ambrée Des Moines is a very typical Belgian Ale based on the Wallonian Saison tradition. The beer is brewed on a blend of pilsener malts and amber malts. Saazer hops are added and Spalter to balance the sweetness. The beer is spiced with a mixture of spices like dried orange peel, coriander, ginger and licorice. After the primary fermentation the beer is bottled with a new portion of fresh wort and yeast for bottle fermentation.

This pours quite strange. For the most part it is an opalescent lemon yellow - not amber. Down the middle is a colloidal haze making a shape that reminds me of the double helical molecule of life. There is just a bit of spongy white head. The aroma is very subtle, only the faintest fruitiness coming through. This is the only serious problem with this beer. The flavor is complex. Dry and dusty like a good saison, the flavor is clean. There is some maltiness manifesting as biscuits - or triscuits - and a slight caramel note. A good yeast fruity character is present as well. This beer is ridiculously effervescent, approaching a champagne. Even though it is so bubbly, it is far from too intense.

The Fonefan/Brugmansia Cnudde tasting. Nice amber with a rapidly vanishing head. The aroma is sweetish and spicy with notes of malt and citrus. The flavour has sweetness, notes of caramel, citrus, light candy sugar and coriander. It’s smooth and easy to drink, but it’s a bit boring!
