Bouteille de 500 ml dégustée directement à la brasserie. Arôme: Odeur d’épinette avec une pointe d’houblons. Apparence: La couleur est blonde orangée légèrement. Présence d’un mince col mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût d’épinette et de céréales. Durée moyenne de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture huileuse. Cloudy orangey blonde pour with a thin white head. Aroma of spruce and lingering sweetness. Flavor of spruce and sweetness. The body is light to medium with a sticky, slightly liquorous texture and gentle carbonation. An interesting experiment, but not a great beer.

Bouteille de 500 ml. La bière se présente avec une robe orangée qui possède un beau col de mousse durable. Au nez on respire des arômes de grain frais, d’herbes avec une légère pointe d’acidité. En bouche le corps est moyen avce une effervescence moyenne. On goûte des saveurs de malt frais, d’herbes avec une bonne amertume et une présence de résine d’épinette.

You generally do not expect much from a spruce beer, so when it’s more or less your favourite of a pub you generally enjoyed, this is a good sign indeed. This cloudy golden ale offers a fair 1cm white head and quickly takes the house’s characteristic yeasty path under she shape of strong, dominance breadiness. Quickly though, the spruce and its perfumey stickiness comes out nicely, a sappy juiciness paired with soft acidity and which enhances drinkability. Juicy, but heavily spritzy as well. Unpretentioous and highly efficient I found, yet no soda pop with all that yeastiness and the medium-full body.

My Bottom Line:
The citrusy semblance of juniper berries seems to rally the spruce needles into play while the doughy house yeast permeates the rather spicy hop (or spruce?) bitterness in this highly quenching Bière d’Épinette.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy blond.
-The yeast character is quite similar to those of their Belgian brews.
-The nose is mostly fruity and does not exude that much spruce character (to my surprise).
-This is not a dictatorial spruce infusion, which is appreciated.
