(Rating #1999)

On tap at Korrigane. Feb 1st, 2012. Hazy hay beer color with floral yeast aroma. In mouth, citrusy and yeast flavours with dry taste in the end. A good beer to drink in the spring and summer. rating # 45

Very, very yeasty beer of deep gold, very opaque nice looks and large white head. While not too spicy, its palate nevertheless surprises with its dryness and rather powdery, mineral characteristics. Even for a wit, it is very fizzy. Little acidity at all, though with a dry wit, this is not necessary. An interesting beast that could be a bit less yeasty, but otherwise occupies a territory of its own among Quebec’s wits.

My Bottom Line:
Omnipresent dought yeast garnishes the sprightly citrusy spiciness and the accompanying biscuity cereals in this starkly unfiltered Belgian-style Witbier.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A sheet of foam dissipates into the murky orange-tinged straw blond.
-This was served with an orange slice on the rim of the glass...taster beware, as you are not even asked if you want it or not.
-The spiciness is well integrated and never dominates the grain bill and yeast character.
-The body is quite bulky for the style and the wheat rather chewy.
-The doughy, bready yeast character is perhaps not as dominant as that of their Belle Gigue’s, but it’s still a prominent feature in this brew.

On tap at the brewpub.
