pours almost clear copper with a nice white head, good retention and lacing. metal, sweet metallic fruit notes, decent spice blend - not overwhelming, hint of warming alcohol, some floral-herbalness, hint of acidity. average carbonation, light body - slightly watery, short herbal bland and metallic finish. disliked it.

(Lot 531.0413) (637-170513)

500 ml bottle shared with Seb A: ginger, cloves, herbal App: clear brown thick white head. T/p: Med body finish is bitter and short. O: average. I don’t like the malt backbone on that one

500 ml bottle. Seriously gushes all over the place upon opening. Oh yeah, I kind of missed that, since I stopped purchasing La Schoune’s products...Pours a veiled orangeish brown with a resilient (go figure!) beige head. Aroma is lots of pepper and roasted caramel. Flavor is fine chocolate, caramel malt, a touch of metal, earthy. Finish is peppery and earthy. Lingering overripe fruits. Thin, watery body. Overly aggressive carbonation (go figure...). I guess I should give it a second chance, pretty sure I had a spoiled bottle or something...but this was not great. Sorry.

Bottle: Poured an amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of spice is quite nice with notes of ginger, light cinnamon, cloves and some resin/coniferous notes. Taste is mostly dominated by the coniferous notes with light cloves and ginger notes also coming through. Malt backbone is dry and doesn’t playa huge role in the flavours profile. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not a style that usually gets me super excited but well brewed nonetheless.

At the opening of that 500ml bottle, a continuous foam is coming out. Hum!! Bad signal. Aroma: Slight notes of spices like ginger and nutmeg, accompanied by notes of blood and sour. We can also find conifer and herbs. Power of aroma is average. Despite the variety of aromas, we cannot say that they are all pleasant to the nose. Visual: Brown, very hazy, average thickness, density and lasting. No lacing. Taste: Attack is slightly sweet and acid, with spices that seems to be close to ginger, cardamom and anise. Bottle says seeds of bayberry and dunes pepper, two spices that I’ve never tasted. Spices are maintaining a small tingling on the tongue with a bit of sugary taste but I cant feel any pepper. Texture is somewhere between oily and watery and finish is short. There is no bitterness. There are a lot of spices and flavors in there, but there are not many making me feel good. Some sort of experience that succeeded more or less. The less we can say about this microbrewery is that they are very unpredictable; sometimes very good products sometimes very bad. Un seul mot me vient à l’esprit: BOF!

Bouteille 500ml.

500 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served cool in a tulip glass. GUSHER.

App.: Deep, practically opaque black-mahogany with a tan rim. Aroma: Fairly strong warm spices – plenty of clove, ginger, cinnamon, maybe some cardamon?, an odd, sorta barfy brightness, really old apple juice, a tangy/savoury note (very odd), poor. Palate: Medium+ body, full, soft effervescence. Flav.: More of the same: a good deal of warm spices intermingled with kind of a nasty infected note, there seems to be some rich maltiness trying unsuccessfully to be noticed, no thanks; dry with minimal bitterness and a not unpleasant spice and rich malt finish.
