Bottle, pours dark, aroma is quite roasty and the flavour was pretty yummy and smoothy only issue was it had a light flavour that was a bit off. Overall tho it was enjoyable

Bottle: Poured a dark black color stout with a medium size dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry coffee notes with some black chocolate notes. Taste is also dominated by some black chocolate with some dry coffee without any astringency. Body is average with good carbonation. Overall, the mix of coffee and chocolate notes was satisfactory with carbonation maybe a tad too strong for the style.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 probstblueribbon (2418) - Nepean, Ontario, CANADA - APR 5, 2013
500 ml bottle from Broue Ha Ha, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Deep brown-black with a large mocha head.
Aroma: Smells a touchy tangy (infected) and metallic at first, moves on to some fair chocolate and light treacle notes, roasted cereal, slightly ashen, fair.
Palate: Medium-ish body, flabby effervescence.
Flav.: Dry roasted cereals, a touch of black coffee, more stark than the nose, slightly ashen, bright and metallic; dry with some astringency, so-so bitterness and a fairly clean (for a stout, I guess) roasted grain finish.
Not a style that excites me and this is not helping.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 Rastacouere (6058) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 4, 2013
Tight, sticky tan head clings to the glass nicely. Charry grains, dark yet slightly vegetal are the most noticeable feature of this coffee-like, easy-drinking stout that definitely resides on the dry side. Plenty of carbonic acid clashing a bit into the flavor profile that otherwise ventures into brazil nuts and espresso territory. Lean bodied, but then again, mouthfeel is dominated by bubbles that whilst not harsh, completely dominate in an environment where subtlety should reign. Powdery texture with a salty, mineral tang in the finish. Carbonation would really benefit from a downward adjustment for the flavours to shine here. It’s one of those minor flaws that do not forgive in what could have been a more than decent session stout.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 czar (2392) - Québec, Quebec, CANADA - APR 4, 2013
pours very opaque brown, black should i say, with a nice beige head, some retention and lacing. aroma: dark chocolate, roasted coffee and light acidity. hint of sweetness. offensive burnt malts, ashy and minerals in taste. average to soft cabronation, light to medium body - maybe lacking a little, harsh bittering coffee, resinous, unbalanced and plain finish. DP.
