COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Normandy varietal cider made from Gros OEillet apples. The cider results from apples harvested from our own orchards. No added sugar, preservative or yeast, naturally sparking.
Made in the modern French factory manner with added fungal pectin methyl esterase and calcium to induce a keeve, followed by nitrogen flotation, then a slow wild yeast fermentation in refrigerated tanks, followed by centrifugation to remove most of the yeast and a final step in a pressure tank so the natural CO2 can be filled into the bottle with the cider under counterpressure. It's then been pasteurised in the bottle.

500ml bottle from Sainsbury. Golden colour with thin lasting white head. Bit of rubbery apple on the aroma. Quite fresh tasting apple though. Bit over carbonated. Bit too sweet for me too. Good fruit though, you can almost taste the fresh apples. Bit metallic on end. Yeah not bad. Bit of bubble gum from somewhere. Rubber ultimately is too much on this though

Bottle. Clear, orange-golden cider with some white bubbles on top. The nose has mostly apples, but there’s some burnt notes in it as well. Apples dominates the flavor as well, but has some yeast to follow. Medium to thin mouthfeel. A decent cider, but there’s some strange notes in it. (070430)

Dark straw, verging on gold with a sparkle. Light soft character - simpler and more juice-like than its somewhat tannin-like aroma would indicate.

Pours sparkling gold, head fizzes away immediately. Lots of bubbles surching upwards. Aroma has lots of apples, sweet red ones, some marzipan and almonds, just a little vanilla. High carbonation, light dryness. Flavour is a bit weak, some good sweet apples. A mild tartness and dryness in the finish. Very fair cider.

Bottle, Vintage 2003, available in Tesco’s. Sweet vanilla and apple aroma with a natural effervesence. The cider is dry and a little perfumed but nicely balanced with a gamey taste. Very good cidre indeed.

Bottled. A greeny brown coloured cider which looks quite still in the glass. The aroma is very sweet and (yes I get it too) rubbery. The taste is like liquid toffee apples. Quite chewy and over sweet. Over half my life ago I would have loved this whilst holidaying in France, but now I really am disappointed.

Golden with slowly rising bubbles. Aromas are sweet and spritzy apple juice with some earthiness. Flavours are earthy apples with a mellow sweetness. Spritzy with a nice sparkle - not much on the finish but this is very drinkable. Seems too carbonated for a French cider.

500ml bottle from Sainsburys. 2003 vintage. A typical Normandy cider. Pale gold colour. Gentle fizz. Soft fruity apple and peach aroma with a touch of vanilla. There’s also an edge that’s hard to describe but similar to what I found in a couple of US "ciders" that I bought without realising they were actually unfermented apple juice. A sort of perfumed cosmetic edge (think Department store) mixed with rubber and bubble gum, if that makes any sense at all. The aroma suggests that the flavour will be sweet. In fact, its drier than expected but certainly not dry (despite what the label says) in comparison to UK dry ciders. But because of the apples used, French ciders never are bone dry. Soft, easy drinking and refreshing, but not too challenging.

Bottle from Kidlington Sainsburys had this 05-04-08 Pours mid golden with white bubbly head, reasonably tasty cider but a touch sweet, quite crisp and good flavour but still missing something to be a very good cider.
