A deliciously robust, rich blend of hops and malt, including an English barley first used in 1905 called Plumage Archer. This traditional ale is lovingly brewed using barley from selected organic farms, including Duchy Home Farm at Highgrove.

500ml bottle - rated this before I realised the brewer. Noted "like a weaker, thinner version of Hobgoblin". Loses it in the body for me.

(bottle) pours a slightly hazy copper-amber colour with a frothy off-white head. aroma of heavy dark fruit and sweet spices, slightly musty, with notes of caramel and tobacco. flavour is mostly the same, dark fruit, caramel and bubble gum, with more roasted malt presence and a slightly alcoholic, dry finish. medium-bodied with average carbonation.

500ml bottle pours amber in color with a 2 finger off-white head that settles slowly and leaves a healthy spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains with some caramel, citrus and earthy notes. Taste is caramel malty sweet with some light roasted grain bitterness supplemented with a light citrus and earthy hop bitterness. Light to medium in body with generous carbonation leaving the palate pleasantly teased. Slightly more robust than the Organic Original and highly recommended.

Bottle: Clear, chestnut-foxy coloured, stable creamy off-white foam, fruity and bready-malty nose with hops in the second row; light to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, pretty soft; shorter fruity-bitter finish. O.K., nothing to complain…

Single bottle purchased from a small market in Crawford Bay, BC on 08/03/2012. Colour: mix of orange and brown and slightly cloudy. No head. Nose: sugary malt, old couch, red nibs, faintest trace of smoke. Taste: medium-light sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. Light but equally distributed balance of grain and sweetness. There is a lingering barley through the finish. Mild mannered one.

500ml bottle. Clear amber colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, minimally lacing, off-white head. Slightly sweet fruity aroma has notes of red berries, cherry, a minimal dry touch of wood and leather. Taste is slightly sweet fruity, a bit flat and minimally artificial, unspecific dry finish in wood, leather and fruit parings direction.
