Bottle. Ta Coleen for the pour. The pour’s medium amber with a small head. The aroma’s marzipan, almond, red berry and caramel apples. The taste is more sweet autumnal fruits. Chewy caramel graham cracker body. Lightly oxidized. Hints of ye olde cardboard. Medium body, smooth. Overall, fine.

50cl bottle, served in Irish Pint. Pours transparent amber with small white frothy head. Aroma is quite lager-like with a hint of spice...not much to say. Taste is mostly caramel with sugary bitterness. Some cereals and bready notes as well. Light body, average carbonation. Pretty simple and cloying, too sweet for me.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Scopey (3250) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2013
Bottle at Jack & Leighton’s birthday celebration, thanks to Colin. It pours clear amber with a medium white head. The nose is earth, brown bread, wood, leather and some dark fruit. The taste is earth, leather, wood, dark fruit, brown bread and light bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Nothing wrong with it, just a bit boring.

50cl bottle shared by Colin at CBC Clerkenwell. It pours orange gold with light haze and a medium white head. Good spotty lace clings to the glass. Smell is malty, grainy, slightly dusty, almost wheaty. Flavour is light caramel up front. Grainy malt, some nutty notes, a bit of a metallic bite through the finish, lemony hops. Light bitter aftertaste, lots of grainy malt dryness. Medium carbonation, light bodied. Decent.

Clear red brown colour. Aroma of grain, barley and has an earthy note as well. Light tasting beer with little weight, watery mid palate and a sort of bitter finish. Flavours of caramel, barley and roast. Meh. Im not likely to buy this again.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Hateball16 (84) - - APR 6, 2013
Pours medium copper, not as dark as I expected, less ruby than the name suggests. Aromas of caramel, bread and grassy floral hop notes. Moderate carbonation, quite creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied with dark toffee malt backbone and some restrained bitterness in the longish finish. Can’t compete with Fuller’s ESB but drinkable all the same.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Osprey87 (538) - London via, WALES - MAR 16, 2013
Mild, subtle bitterness/maltiness, nice enough but a bit too bland for me. Wouldn’t recommend it.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 olliejobbins (329) - Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 11, 2013
500ml bottle. Well, the appearance is definitely ruby. Small tanned head too. Aroma is not too exciting, just hoppy and not much else. Tastes ok but ultimately just a standard bitter.
