500ml bottle bought in Newcastle, only it’s 4,2%, Clear golden colour, firm white medium head, sparkling, a bit sweet soft honey malty hints, creamy taste medium carbonation honey like taste, refreshing

I have it under the other name and label:Duchy Organic Old ruby ale "Plumage Archer" 1905. Some earthey bitterness on a bit of an aggresive side,some like jamy fruityness with mabye a bit sour. Kinda hard to discribe what I taste but this is just the old ruby ale 1905 with the plumage archer barley and dwarf hop that is supposably not int that version and I had it yrs ago cheers

Usual bitter aroma of fruity caramel. Murky orange tan look to it. Flavor is nutty caramel and a bit of non-bitter citrus. Creamy body that’s on the thin side. Pretty average stuff, probably better from a cask.

Bottle. Golden colored pour with little to no head. Malty, hint of raisins aroma. Earthy, slightly bitter finish. Not much to this, but it wasn’t too bad.

500ml bottle pours a pale amber color with a finger and a half of white head that settles slowly to a thin spotty lacing. Aroma is caramel and orange zesty citrus. Taste is caramel malty sweetness balanced nicely with an orange zest and citrus hop bitterness. Light to medium body with generous carbonation leaving a good feeling on the palate. A nicely done ESB and deserves a recommendation for others to try this delight.

Nov 2009: Brown 50ml bottle had two months before its best by date. It was poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged vase shaped pint glass.
Clear, but not bright, the colour was golden brown with a reddish hint. An off-white head sat on top, thick at first then a thinner covering. The head did produce some good laceing as the glass emptied.
No huge aroma came from the beer, some hop and toffee maybe.
The taste was fairly bland, fizzy, mid-dry, the malts and hops are there but neither grabs the beer by the neck and sorts it out. The 5.0% ABV doesn’t feature or show in any way, the body suffers because of that, it seemed watery and lacking in the creamy, rich stakes. Drinkable, but a mild disappointment.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Thought this was very average. Had a weak fruity aroma which was all too similar in the taste. Not enjoyable but not bad in any way
