16.9oz bottle 12/4/14 (Binny’s Naperville)50° in Weizen Glass-Pours a murky orangish amber with a big head. Aroma of wheat, banan, and coriander. Taste of wheat, banana, and other. This light bodied brew would probably be better fresh as it is only ok now.

1 dollar bottle at Binnys. Right on the edge of expiration. Dull orange-copper body, big creamy, pillowy, steady head. Pretty bland for the style. Medium bodied, subdued flavors. The aroma has turned pretty bad, which makes it hard to enjoy. I’d like to believe this is a lot better fresh.

50cl bottle. Bottle no/label: 01742.2. Mahogany color, thick off-white head. Sweet banana, clove and wheat in aroma. Flavor has banana, wheat, mild soury notes, like youghurt, making it more refreshing actually. Caramel in the slightly sweeter finish. Thin body. Quite nice and a little different hefeweizen.

Pours murky dark orange-brown with large head. Aroma is ripe bananas, caramel. Taste is rather sweet, malty, with some wood, probably gets aged with beech wood chips like the other Duckstein beers. Body is very watery and makes this a decidedly bland and disappointing affair.

Bottle 0,5ltr: Hazy amber colored brew with an mildly bitter taste and there are some banana and bubblegum hints. Fancy bottle and decent Northern German Hefeweizen.

500ml on-tap in Oma’s, Hamburg, Germany (€3.90):
This one was quite a poor hefeweizen which was particularly surprising since it was a German beer, on-tap in Germany but it just didn’t come up to scratch when compared to so many others of the style out there. Whilst falling short of being a bad or undrinkable beer, it was bland and unimaginative with only the strong bubblegum and banana flavours seeming like positives. I would probably give this one a miss in future and stick with the likes of Paulaner or Erdinger since they seem to always be available when this one is in Germany.

Bottle: red color. Smell has some typical banana. Taste is wheat and some banana. Quite sweet.
