bottle, pours light amber with an off white head. Carmel malt and bannana aroma. Medium mouthfeel eith light toasted malt and a moderately bitter finish. More of a dunkel flavor. Not bad.

Pours a copper colour with a small white head that disapears quickly. Aroma of caramel, some herbal/vegital notes, biscuity malt. Tastes fairly woody (I guess from the beechwood) caramel some herbal notes and the biscuity malt. If I tasted this blind, I don’t think I would have pegged this one a German. I defintly would have guesses Brittan. Like a bitter or an English Ale. Still a well made beer that didn’t knock my socks off but enjoyable none the less.

500 ml bottle in Germany. Nice bottle. At first I did not like the first sip. Palate is bitter. But then it grows on you. Little character way to light in flavor and color for an Alt beer but drinkable if you dont think about it. Not great and not bad.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2010 Bottle. So, I was pretty excited when I first tried this beer 4 years back, but either my taste has changed or the beer has. Pours a clear golden copper with a white head. Malty aroma with notes of hops and wood. Flavour is malt with wooden and flowery notes. Slight notes of hops. Finish is a bit malty and a bit grainy/alcoholic. Slight hops and a lingering bitterness. Not nearly as hoppy as I remember it, and which was what made me like it back then (maybe I was just easily impressed?). Now it’s just plain, but not a bad beer by all means. Just plain. 26-12-08.

Bottle. As ’Feldschlösschen Duckstein’. Light brown / amber colour with an off-white head. Distinct dry, hoppy aroma. A bit wood-like. Bitter, hoppy flavour. A touch metallic. Great hoppy aftertaste, which sneaks up on you from behind. A great beer!

50cl bottle.It poured an orange colour with a medium big white creamy head that settled down slowly in the glass. Aroma is malty with notes of apples, caramel and wood. The flavour is dry and a bit bitter with notes of caramel, apples and cinnamon. It has a short aftertaste.

Transparent deep brown with a beige head and not much lace. Aroma is a little sweet with apples and cinnamon and some wood chip tones. Moderate carbonation and light consistency. Malty, very slight smokiness, and metallic. Dry at the end with molasses note.

Deep amber beer with a white lacing head. Interesting aroma with a touch of the cellar. Sourish yeast, caramel and some hop in the nose. The flavor contains the interesting touch too with the taste of the cask, sourish yeast, some caramel, dry finish.

500ml Bottle. Thin copper color, decent head. Very faint aroma of fruit with some amber malts and caramel. Flavor also very light, caramel, amber malts, a touch of cardboard. Decent hop bitterness in the finish, though. Rather thin and light. Not bad, really, but probably the least interesting German-made altbier I have tried to date. A disappointment. Actually, it got really boring by the end of 500 ml!
