Amber colored with nice creamy head. The aroma is roasted malt and slightly lemony, with hints of smoke. Starts with strong roasted malt aromas, slightly bitter. A slightly smokiness comes through. Bitter-hoppy, strong malty and light smoked finish!

Bottle. Amber colour with disappointingly short lived head. Aroma is malty-bready with some hints of smokiness, caramel, some raisins and redcurrant, plus some hops. Taste is not too intensive but very good. Caramelly maltiness that carries a subtle fruitiness, all leading to a subtly bitter finish created by the grassy hops. A session beer but quite expensive. The only disappointment is that I did not find any wood aroma that this beer prides itself of.

Test vom 17.1.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,8,9,9,11,8 - 8,35

500ml embossed bottle brown, MHBE: 11.2011. It pours a beautiful copper/red with a foamy off-white head that billows over the rim and lasts for a while before leaving some nice lacing behind. The smell is fruity and malty, not very complex, but not unpleasant, there seems to be an herbal character form the hops reminiscent of Tettnang. The flavor continues with the tettnang theme. It is a mild altbier with some caramally malt notes, medicinal hops, and a hint of metal. It is a nice-looking beer, but overall it isn’t anything special.
