Bottle. Slightly sour and strange (soy?) aroma. Brown/reddish colour. Flavour is fruity but definitely not flowery. Nice bitterness. Probably a good session beer.

Dec 2004, Swedish dregs, Alts etc tasting w/MartinT, tiggmtl and Rastacouere #10. 500 ml. The beginning of the alts portion of the tasting, and alas not an auspicious one...clear reddish-orange with hints of foam...skunky-vegetal sourish nose does not beckson...bitter off flavors, some malt present amidst the spoiled milk. A poor example, or perhaps just a poor sample bottle?
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 tiggmtl (4467) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 7, 2004
DMS. Pea soup aroma with some spicy floral underlying hops. Copper-amber with thin cover of white head. Pea soup also in the flavour with decent finishing bitterness. Chalky and somewhat thin. Bottle sampled with MartinT, muzzlehatch and Rastacouere.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Eructoblaster (2043) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 16, 2004
Bottle - 500ml. Carbonated amber body topped with a thick and lasting foamy head. Fair malty nose with hoppy (Hallertau) and grainy notes. Taste is goog but unidimensional. It is dominated by hops, and we can barely detect any nuances (maybe some woody, grainy and bready hints). Its long and bitter finish is nice to me. Decent Altbier. Better than most of the products from the Holsten Group.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Rastacouere (5900) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - NOV 13, 2004
UPDATED: DEC 5, 2004 Copper body with light and diminishing off-white head. Faint malt nose comes out earthy and rather grainy. Made me say "bah" actually and this is usually not a good sign. Palate is toasty, herbal, earthy, feels brown and wet all while being dry. Rather high carbonation, light body. Dry finish with a trace of hops, but I’ve come to expect more from an alt.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 jb (1540) - Rochester, New York, USA - NOV 4, 2004
Had this on draft in Kiel - brewed in Hamburg Holsten plant. Very nice bier, orange color with a tan head. Floral and spice hints. Malty but balance by hops. A good beer!
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 Choos (507) - Taylors Hill, AUSTRALIA - NOV 1, 2004
Aroma: hop, malt and a little fruit. Appearance: brown almost amber clear with a small head that is made of foamy larger bubbles. Flavour: malt with noticeable hop bitterness that gives way to a strong all hop taste. Palate: very bubbly with a strong bitter aftertaste.
