Queite nice beer but does not live up to the hype it has in Germany. Too expensive for an avarage beer.

Bottle 500 ml, pours clear amber with no head. Almost neutral in aroma with only a little bit of maltiness and sweet corn. Wood isn?t noticable at all. In taste very watery with only light sweetness and very light bitterness. Some very delicate sourness remains in the aftertaste. Completly no body. Without any bigger defects but more like a beer flavoured water.

12 oz pour from refrigerated bottle into tulip glass. Fluffy white head with decent retention. Ruby and mostly clear. Dark. Nose is malty and carmelly. Medium body. Fairly creamy. Taste is woody and malty with some caramel sweetness. A bit ashy. Pretty light overall.

On tap at pub in Bremerhaven. Hazy red amber with white head. Smell is sweet malt, grain and caramel. Taste is malty with grain, malt and bread body and slightly bitter finish. Semi dry with low bitterness and medium carbonation.

33cl bottle Appearance: Clear reddish Amber, with a small white head. Aroma: Light smoky smell, light grainy, some malts. Taste: Burned grains, burned malts caramelised malts, ashy tones, bitter herbal hops, some maple syrup and then it becomes totally boring in te finish. light to medium body, slick mouthfeel, soft carbonation, Unbalanced alt, which seems to compromise unbalancedness with blendness. Dissapointing.

Not sure whether this is my first Altbier ever, but if not, I would not be surprised. It is totally unremarkable. I’m sure the style must have something which is less boring than this...
