2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Spiesy (2336) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - JAN 4, 2004
Bottled. Amber with a generous frothy and speckled head. Very light malt aroma but that’s all. Not much flavour on offer with this one either. Seems a little light on everything. Inoffensively boring though.

UPDATED: DEC 5, 2004 Copper body with light and diminishing off-white head. Faint malt nose comes out earthy and rather grainy. Made me say "bah" actually and this is usually not a good sign. Palate is toasty, herbal, earthy, feels brown and wet all while being dry. Rather high carbonation, light body. Dry finish with a trace of hops, but I’ve come to expect more from an alt.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 omhper (15958) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - APR 2, 2007
UPDATED: APR 19, 2007 Bottled. Clear amber, average head. Aroma of ash and apples. Sweet with lifeless rounded mouthfeel. Sweaty and raw with evident vegetable flavours. Almost Carlsbergy.

50cl bottle. Copper, nicely firm pale head. Nose is mild turpentine, rust, hint of toffeeish malts. Flavor is herbs, alcohol, rust, faint old fruitiness, mild caramelly malts and licorice root finish. Softly carbonated, but a bit hollow palate. I should have marked up the best before-date, might have had some shelf time, though freshly bought from Berlin.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20 SirRepsol (28) - North Rhine-Westphalia, GERMANY - MAY 4, 2012
Yeah, the bottle looks nice. But that’s it. Clear amber color. Lively carbonation and very light body. Malty flavour of nuts, bitter aftertaste. Somehow it has some metallic notes in it. I really expected a lot more from this brew.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Shadallion (531) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAY 13, 2001
Similar to Anchor Steam, in that it has the smooth body of a lager and some mild fruity flavors associated with ales. Not bad, but not worth the $4 I paid for the bottle.

500ml Bottle. Thin copper color, decent head. Very faint aroma of fruit with some amber malts and caramel. Flavor also very light, caramel, amber malts, a touch of cardboard. Decent hop bitterness in the finish, though. Rather thin and light. Not bad, really, but probably the least interesting German-made altbier I have tried to date. A disappointment. Actually, it got really boring by the end of 500 ml!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Ariel’s place. Thanks troubles. Clear amber. Aroma of metal, vegetables, malt and a bit of toastiness. Sweetish flavor with malt and a slightly drier finish with a bit of metallic hints. Light-bodied.
