(Rating #492)

bottle @ Kaufland market / Schwaebisch Gmuend Germany --- Clear ambergris color, off-white head, lace streaks. Taste is malt with a light infusion of oak with very light fizz and, then, a trace of hops for the finish. This has some body, but very little flavor. I won’t have another.

Can’t complain about the head and the color is a nice clear redbrown. The body is quite light but it’s not watery, rather easily drinkable. A wooden taste is clearly noticeable and very pleasant. I found this a very good option when the alternatives were only standard industry pilseners.

Faint undestinctive aroma. Pours a red clear color with a fast dissipating white head. tastes of light caramel and a short sour edamami note. Balanced but not very assertive. Don’t know altbiers well enough to know if its a good example. Pleasantly drinkable but no wow factor.

Draught at Fisherman’s, Travemünde. Somewhat hazy amber with a small white soapy head. Medium body with low to moderate carbonation. Subtle sweet and bitter tones. Caramel, malts, red fruits and spices. Nice altbier.

Obergärig?! Amber Ale?! Altbier!!! Abgefahren!!!!! Trotzdem besser als alle Industrie Pilsener!!!! Das letzte Mal..... heute beim Inder.

The beer has a very nice look. The color of the beer is a beautiful reddish brown, close to dark amber. The beer is crystal clear and you can see tiny bubbles rising towards the top. The beer pours a decent amount of rough white foam that collapses quickly. A minimal drape of foam remains on top of the beer, but it kind of fits the beer type. The beer has a nice smell. It is a little malty, and has aromas of roasted barley and licorice. The beer has a typical altbier smell. It has a little sour touch to it. The roast and licorice bitterness are in good balance with both the little sourness and the sweetness of the beer. The taste has the same delicious touch of licorice and roasted barley. The taste is a little less strong than the smell. The balance between sweet, bitter and sour is good. The beer is very nice and matches the deScription on the label perfectly. The beer is jut as I’ve expected.

Copper red color with off-white head. Aroma of wood, a little caramel and nutty. Taste similar to aroma and also some herbal hops.
