3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ben4321 (2995) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - NOV 16, 2012Location: 22 oz bottle from State Line, 11/16/12
Aroma: The nose is heavily malty with lots of chocolate, the pepper is more subtle
Appearance: It pours a dark brown color with a small light brown head and some drippy lace spots
Flavor: It tastes malty, and it is a little sweet up-front, but it is also quite spicy. There’s much more of a peppery presence in the taste then the nose, especially in the finish, which is fairly heavy peppery and spicy.
Palate: The body is medium-full, with a soft carbonation, and a LONG lasting spicy tingle on the finish
Overall Impression:
This is a pretty good beer. Everything about it feels balanced, even malty from the nose through the early/mid palates, but when you get to the finish, everything fades except the pepper, and the pepper seems to linger for a very long time (and even gets a little spicier). Interesting stuff, and I thought it was pretty tasty, but if you are pepper-averse, beware.

This one poured a medium to darker brown with a beige head. Aroma was of dark chocolate, and mild green peppers, and medium roasted malt. Flavor was a great balance of low chocolate sweetness, light roast finished by a nice spicey swallow. Definitely one of the best balanced pepper beers i’ve had.

Bottle. Part of 5K backlog. Pours black with tan head. Nose and taste of chili pepper, roasted chocolate malt, milk chocolate and vanilla. Finishes with a bit of pepper heat - more than most. Body is on the lighter side of medium.

Thanks to thirdeye11 for sharing this bottle. Dark brown-red with a brown head. Aroma is full of milk chocolate and is fairly sweet. Flavor is more complex. I get some chocolate character, as expected, but I also get some chipotle pepper. The peppers add both some earthy flavor, as well as some heat. Thick mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 kramer (3878) - Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA - MAY 3, 2013
Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown body with a one inch frothy light brown head that left some nice lacing. The nose is really heavy on both the chocolate and the chili peppers, hard to tell which one is more intense. A good bit of dry roastiness and slightly burnt malt as well, but this is certainly dominated by the adjunct flavorings. The flavor is pretty well in step with the aroma. One of the ’hotter’ pepper beers that I’ve had actually. Spicy and slightly burning on the finish. Tempered a bit by a little bit of sweetness and a heavy note of chocolate and some burnt malt. This one might actually be a bit over the top as far as the chili peppers go. Medium bodied with moderate fizzy carbonation that seems to enhance the spiciness of the peppers. An interesting beer, but I feel like they could have gotten their point across with a little less pepper.

Sample from motortoddhead. Thanks! Deep brown cola pour with off-white head. Nose is semi-sweet chocolate with chili pepper lingering in the background and a tinge of bandaid/plastic. Slightly acidic. Flavor starts as bitter cocoa and unsweetened chocolate with roasted malt mixed in. This gives way to a light to moderate chili with some bandaid. Chili spice builds to the moderate+ range with further drinking. Only mild acidity. Lingering low-level burn. Pretty nice brew.
