Firkin @ Arundel Mills on Firkin Friday. Pours a dark brown color; light khaki head with fine-bubbled lacing. Soft vanilla presence over roasted malts and creamy chocolate in the aroma; pleasant and straightforward; the vanilla isn’t overdone in the slightest. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: chewy roasted malts, dark chocolate, toasted malts, and a slight coffee presence (nothing rough); very light vanilla note that comes off almost as a new-oak barrel presence; very drinkable and very tasty; nothing syrupy and nothing ringing false here in the vanilla addition. Lengthy finish: toasty roasted malts, chocolate, and a touch of lingering vanilla.
