3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
2 L growler, shaker. Moderate roasted, chocolate, and coffee malts. Not anything in the way of hops of fruits. Deep cola-brown body with an average, tan, creamy head. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter finish that is somewhat drying. Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation. The bottom line is: a bit disappointing to me, even for a porter. And yes, it has the tang ;)

Nice, thick head. On draft at brewery. Thick, heavy mouthfeel, heavier than I expected for a porter. Roasty toastiness upfront, slight hops in back...or was it up front? Overall, a nice beer, but more like a stout than I expected.

Hints of coffee? The coffee overpowers all the other tastes in this unbalanced brew. If you like coffee, give it a try. Very full and creamy.

Decent porter, not as caramelly or roasty enough for my tastes. Could be a bit smoother as well.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Faint hints of coffee on the nose. Pours nearly black with a thin brownish white head that disappears quickly. Getting some chocolate on the tongue but it feels thin. Not making much of an impact for me.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
(Draft @ Orioles game 7/13/07 @ Camden Yards) Pretty weak porter...Pours dark brown, kind of still-looking, with virtually no head. Aroma sort of chocolatey, weak coffee, kind of off and on sour. Flavor is weak bitterish milk chocolate/cocoa with weak coffee and some sourish off taste. A little better as it warmed but really just above drinkable. Could have been I just got a bad one - I didn’t know this was a DuClaw until I looked it up on RB afterwards - wouldn’t have guessed it based on their good reputation.
