3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 wunderbier (1434) - Tampere, - OCT 4, 2004
2 L growler, shaker. Moderate roasted, chocolate, and coffee malts. Not anything in the way of hops of fruits. Deep cola-brown body with an average, tan, creamy head. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic flavor becomes a lightly sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter finish that is somewhat drying. Medium body, watery texture, average carbonation. The bottom line is: a bit disappointing to me, even for a porter. And yes, it has the tang ;)

Faint hints of coffee on the nose. Pours nearly black with a thin brownish white head that disappears quickly. Getting some chocolate on the tongue but it feels thin. Not making much of an impact for me.

On tap at Duclaw, Bowie on 14 July 2006. Very dark brown - almost black - and nearly opaque. Lots of creamy coffee in the aroma. More of the same on the palate. Some powdery cocoa and burnt malt too. Smooth and mellow. A very decent and enjoyable porter.
