Bottle at Toncatcher’s event courtesy of Naven. Dark brown to black pour with a small tan head. The nose was rich with molasses and smoke. The flavor had bitter espresso, black licorice and sour dates. The mouthfeel was just a bit thin. The finish was long with lingering anise. Overall: A very nice stout, I’m glad to have tried this.

Jun 28, 2008 Thanks to Naven for sharing this at toncather’s tasting. Aromas of chocolate and burnt malts. Flavors were similar with hints of coffee and more burnt malt flavors. Pretty tasty.

Jun 12, 2008 This poured a dark chocolate brown with a big coffee flavor and a nice hint of roasted malts as it warmed the abv showed up but was not that strong and had some good flavors come out also.CHEERS!

May 12, 2008 With all the talk about infection, I was very worried opening this. It definitely had a sourness on the nose and in the flavor, but it’s tough to say whether or not this was due to some sort of infection or if this was the intention. Either way, it was still pretty good. A full bodied, nice stout with some lingering hoppiness and sourness.

May 9, 2008 Bottle at toncatcher’s. Pours a dark brown with a yellowish head. Light sweetness with some bitternes. Also a bit of tartness(?) Light hoppy notes. Hint of cask wood and coffee. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation.
