3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Skeegle (566) - Maryland, USA - MAY 10, 2008
UPDATED: MAY 29, 2008 It has a very stouty aroma that is pleasant, and it looks like a porter, perhaps lighter than a stout. I was a bit, er, past my prime when I tried this so I’m going from unreliable memory here. There was a nutty flavour in this one, pleasantly nutty, like roasted sunflower seeds. It added a salty taste to the beer which I really liked. This beer had excellent drinkability but the body was a bit thin, though that only added to the drinkability. A very nice and soft ale.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 scraff (2118) - Baltimore, Maryland, USA - APR 13, 2008
Brownish black, off white creamy head. Nose held soft notes of mild coffee and milk chocolate. Warming brings out faint bready leather notes. Roasty chocolate and bready grains mingle with light coffee flavors from start to finish. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. A well done rendition that’s easily sessionable...

Growler, shared by wickedpete. Thanks Pete! Nose was roasty and slightly hoppy with a bit of fruit. Had the makings of a good schwarzbier, but I found the body to be a little on the watery side. Good cocoa, roasted malt, slightly smokey flavors.

Rating # 1450. Draft @ Bowie location. Pours a dark, chocolate-brown color; solid khaki-colored head with fine-bubbled lacing. Pleasant amounts of roasted malts and coffee in the aroma; a touch of toasted grains. Medium mouthfeel: roasted malts, dark chocolate, and well-roasted coffee upfront (following the nose); very drinkable, straightforward schwarzbier; relaxed carbonation overall. Medium finish, showing cocoa and chocolate and basic cereal.
