3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 scottw86 (906) - USA - JAN 29, 2012
Limited edition bottle from the Arundel Mills location. Poured a hazy amber brown, with a large light tan head. Lots of bourbon and hops in the aroma. A good amount of alcohol can be detected too. Taste is boozy and sweet with candy sugar, bourbon, some brown sugar. A little harsh at first, but once it started to warm up the flavors really blended nicely. Overall I don’t know if I liked it as much as the regular Devil’s Milk, but I thought the bourbon flavors worked well.

On tap at Klobys: Pours a clear deep bronze amber with a thin ring of off-white bubbles. Nose abounds with rich bourbon oak and sweet caramel toffee. Body starts with good fullness and chewy sweet caramel malts with some light fruity complexity and plenty of bourbon flavor with a nice balance of piny hops before a slightly warming finish with lingering bourbon character. This should age well.

Bottle shared by yourefragile. Served in a SAVOR wine glass.
Pours a moderate rusty brown color with a thin off-white head and a bit of a cap on the way down. The nose carries a bit of bourbon plus some sweet malt in the background. Light caramel and a bit of booze. The flavor integrates the barrel character more, creating a beer that’s nice and smooth. Medium body with a slightly-boozy finish. Pretty good.

I got this from Arundel Mills restaurant! Weee. Accidentally ordered a full 22oz bottle for myself! Holler. Taste seemed to get better with time. Not sure if that was due to it getting warmer or I was getting in my "happy place". Beer had hints of vanilla, bourbon, caramel and wood. Alcohol was present in the taste. I was okay with that. Fairly bitter "bite" to this beer. Overall a decent beer. Might like the original slightly better but still thoroughly enjoyed this beer.
