A small batch of Serum, our super hoppy, amber XXIPA, has been aged in charred Kentucky white oak bourbon barrels! Infused with smoky notes of charred oak, vanilla, and caramelized sugar, Oak Aged Serum is a truly unique treat for hop heads and bourbon aged beer fans alike.

Draft at Bowie location on 12/24/12. Came to the table a hazy amber/rust color with a skim of a beige head. There was a well-balanced aroma of caramel, vanilla, a burnt oaky woodsiness, pine, and plenty of citrus. Went down full-bodied, syrupy, and awfully sticky. There was a great deal of caramel and candi sugar upfront taste-wise. Lots of vanilla and plenty of burnt, almost smoky, oaky/bourbon qualities rounded out the middle. Grapefruits and citrus rinds dominated at the finish. Things got a little too cloying for my tastes by the end. There was an abundance of alcohol warmth and booziness the whole way through. Good, just not really my thing.
