On tap at Frisco Tap House & Brewery in Columbia, MD. Lightly hazy, trusty brown with an off-white head and good lacing. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, bourbon, oak and white bread. Taste of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, alcohol, oak, brown sugar, figs and a bare touch of citrus. Full body and medium/low carbonization. More like a barleywine than an imperial IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Clear copper with an off white head. Aroma is pretty much straight bourbon barrel. Taste follows pretty closely. Oak, vanilla and very buttery. Not much in the way of the base beer. Rich sticky palate. Tasty but the base beer really could be anything.

Bottle thanks to Dmac. Pours out a cloudy copper, almost .apple cider color with a small white head. Aroma is of bourbon, muted citrus, oak, caramel, burnt wood and light alcohol. Taste is bourbon forward, lots of charred oaky notes, sweet caramel, subdued citrusy hops. More like a barley wine but still interesting.

Bottled March 28, 2014.
Appearance: Murky brown body with a creamy light tan head lasting on top.
Aroma: The aroma is huge, from a foot away I smell caramel/brown sugar and whiffs of oak and bourbon. Up close hints of oxidation are noted in a pleasant way, dark fruits notably. Hints of aged citrusy hops are noted, but overall this is very English barley wine like. I enjoy it.
Taste: Big caramel, brown sugar and toasted coconut are noted, hints of oak and fig make their way through also. This drinks nicely, though a bit thin. Bourbon is mellow with it centered towards the back with oak and a touch of grapefruit. The finish lingers dry with booze. This is sweet, nicely drinking though.
Palate: A tad thin of being full bodied, but enjoyable with mild carbonation.
Overall: This is a solid beer. Disregard the fact that it’s an IPA and you’ll be impressed. It drinks like a thin-ish barley wine with a nice sweetness. Very enjoyable and priced nicely.

22oz bomber from Crossroads. Pours a dirty dark amber/brown color with a finger of foamy khaki head. Aroma of caramel, strong bourbon, oak, vanilla, and old citrus. Taste of old citrus, caramel, oak, and bourbon.

Draft. Pours really muddy red/brown with no head at all. Ugly in the glass but has a nice bourbon-y aroma along with some peach, apple. Syrupy and viscous, quite "hot" and boozy with lots of caramel notes. Some bittering hops pop through. I’d go with the non BA version over this but not bad.

Tap at the brewery. Pours an opaque hazy light chocolate with cream colored head. Aroma of oak and booze. Taste of hoppy hints that are then wrestled to the ground and overpowered by the bourbon and oak.

No hops but plenty of da barrel. Nilla and char is rampant. Overall decent brewski. Not my favorite but good if like non hoppy ipa.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2014 22 ounce bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Pours a cloudy copper orange with a finger of off-white head. Light lacing. Aromas of big bourbon, coconut, vanilla, oak, citrus and hops are mostly masked by the bourbon. Tastes of bourbon, vanilla, candied fruit, caramel, booze. Medium-light body with a dry and warm finish. IPA notes are pretty much dominated by the bourbon character.
